nintendo DS

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It's good fun. I have had one for a few months now (thanks Smooth :D )

The problem with the DS is that t will take a while to see the best of what it has to offer wheras you are impressed with a PSP straight out of the box.

I think they are both different enough to warrant a purchase. Certainly enough room for both in the market.

the best game for the DS has just been released, it should have been the launch game - Catch!, Touch!, Yoshi!

personaly I still see it as a gimick.

and they even have emulators of it already...

Gimmick or not, at the end of the year there will be a big batch of games you can pretty much guarantee will be worthy of purchase.

Animal Crossing, Mario Kart, Metroid, Kirby Magic Paintbrush, Castlevania, Harvest Moon, Lost in Blue, Another Code, Band Bros, Meteos, Mario Brothers, Pokemon, Nanostray, Zelda, Advance Wars, Goemon, Viewtiful Joe, Final Fantasy...possibly Nintendogs and Electroplankton.

I think that is a lot of damn good games.

Its a machine with potential, whether people will recognise that or not remains to be seen. I'm not convinced about the touch screen just yet.

It's sold incredibly since release, breaking records in the UK. Although I seriously don't expect that to last, the PSP is a sexy piece of kit. I just hope that people make some original software for it instead of lazy Ps2 ports.

What confuses me is Nintendo claiming the DS will attract non gamers, I would have thought the PSP would be a more attractive proposition myself...

There was quite a rubbish article in the Times today, cleary written by someone who never plays games (or a sony rep). Bunch of twats

Thats so ******* stupid.

The reason why I think the DS is **** is because only nintendo will manage to excite with it, everyone else seems to just use it as a map screen or some other random tosh.

To be honest, I think the new Yoshi game is as good as its gonna get.
In pure design terms I think the machine looks bloody horrible.

now the PSP shouldnt be compared, ts more super gameboy then DS rival. But what it does do, it does perfectly - If you truly were a gammer, then you can fully understand why being able to play FF or say new wipeout ridge racer on the move is an exciting prospect.

Im really hate fan boy ********

The irony of that quote is that you are more likely to find 'oldskool' style games on the Playstations than any other machines. It's certainly the best place for 2d shooters and fighters.
