Dr Who episodes!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

hmm.

surely the fcat that she clearly (as another charachter) dies is going to confuse some people?
Maybe they'll paint her a different colour to make the distinction?

Green would work.

Have any of the Doc's companions not been off of Earth?

Idiots get confused anyway. I remember a muppet writing into either the Buffy or Angel magazine all confused about Eve at Wolfram & Hart, seeing as Eve was a Potential in the preceding season of Buffy and had died and stuff. Fools!

Yeah, the Doc's had loads of alien companions.

That all happen to look human.

Not to mention Colin Baker.

Ok, so he only played the Doctor and wasn't a compaion, but hey.
Still annoying though, isn't it?

At least they gave Romana a (tenuous) reason for looking like someone else.

"Didn't I see you somewhere before?"
"No."
"But I'm sure I..."
{Firmly} "NO."
"I'll be good... I'll even return all your underwear that I stole..."
"Good, I... WHAT??"
"I only wanted to sniff it..."
"YOU FILTHY OLD MAN!!!"

{Repeat until end credits}

They should contract me to write for Dr. Who. By which I mean star in. By which I mean contract me to write Ghostbusters 3.

I still don't understand what Rebis was saying :( Or Teenwolf... I had a deprived childhood.

I.E. (no, not the browser) do lupines have morals? If so, what are they?

It is only in establishing these facts that we can ascertain whether or not a lupine adheres to them or not.

Or, to put it another way:

"An immoral lupine!"
"Do lupines even have morals?"
"Uhm... Ghostbusters 3!"

Surely it would be in the eyes of the person viewing the lupine's actions? The lupine itself wouldn't need necessarily consider them immoral or be aware of morality for someone else to look upon them and say "That's immoral!"

Like a rat eating it's babies. Pretty immoral but the rat's happy as a sandboy about the arrangement :3

It's not my argument. Blame Rebis. :(

I think the crux was "can you apply the concept of [im]morality to a lupine?"

I thik Rebis was just being Rebis. :(

back OT- I think they'll just introduce her as a new character and never speak of the fact she played an extra. No relation or explanation, we'll just ignore it. :)

The new companion won't be in the Christmas special so it'll be the best part of a year before most viewers see her again- More than long enough for them to forget... Unlike peter Pervis who came back less than a month latter in a episode of the same story.

At least one paper touted her as "Dr. Who's first black assistant!". Now, they could be forgiven for not knowing about various book and other media companions, but Mickey was in this weeks episode...

Shame I was right about the plot resolution :( How did I know that machine would have a 'reverse' button? I was hoping we'd have something a bit more meaty.

Pretty entertaining, although it's huge climax was leaving rose behind... rather than the Earth being invaded or somesuch. Good, but overdone; I've seen Billie screwing her face up in tears once too often now really.

In fact if I'm being wholey frank I'm glad that whole dynamic of their relationship is gone, it never really did much for me. I'm sure she'll be back though ;) "It's sealed and you can never come back! Oh noes!11!" yar... the exact way it was 'sealed' the last time, and a couple of million Cybermen strolled through it? ;)

And that final scene was pretty painful. The ending was too long and mushy for me, but it's cool- I appreciate if you really like Rose then it all works fine and she needs a big sendoff. Shame even what worked from that had to be castrated by the last 20 seconds. Yeesh.

Not helped by my little sisters giggling whenever a Dalek said anything (they just have a really dumb sense of humour which usually involves them laughing in the middle of something you're making an effort to take half-seriously).

Liking the way the Black Dalek escaped :3 sweeeet. Nice to know we don't have to kill them off 'permanently' every time we see them. Cybermen were actually menacing, although whatsherface turning on them and crying oil was just f****** painful. Why would a Cyberman even have tear glands?? Let alone be the only one to retain anything resembling their original voice... bah. Cheap scriptwriting.

Shame Jackie didn't die... curses...

Some good characterisation and sharp dialog going on though (particularly some of the snipes against JT muhahaha)

To be fair, the Earth being invaded was last week's climax... can't really end on the shock value of that when the episode's there to resolve it. ;)

as much as a Cyberman/Dalek/Earth war coul dhave been far more protracted.

i loved it.

and i am glad rose did not die.

and i cried quite a bit.

i like it when i cry quite a bit - that's good tv.

Cyberlass was ok - the crying less so.

I thought it was fecking great. Nice resolution for Rose's family, though I'm sad Mickey got written out too.

Brilliant dialogue for the Daleks.

My only 2 niggles:

1) The Cybermen seemed slightly short changed. Would've been nice if they were shown blowing up at least ONE Dalek.

2) The last 20 seconds. I'd have gladly waited till the Xmas special to see Catherine Tate, and not have it almost undermine the drama that preceded the cameo here.

The 'tears' thing could easily, IMO, be explained by something like her brain rejecting the Cyber body and the resultant melt down. or something. Good character eslution anyway.

would have been better if it had had the standrad Cyber voice though - i thought that was a a bit silly.

one thing not very clear - at points there almost seemed to be a Cyber/ human alliance, but nowhere was this explicit.

something else i wondered abou - The Cybermen made on earth, even though they were fewin number, would they not have been left behind? Or were the materials used to build them also from across the void.

and why don't they just use anesthetic?

i quite liked seeing the Cybermen get dicked to be honest - it felt true to the Daleks strength. And yes, nice to see one get away.

After all "One Dalek would be enough".

Nice deception in the trailer about the prospective Cyber/Dalek allience as well.

Oh - and the cult of Skaro - cool.

And the genesis ark - good plot device.

i've watched it twice so far. i wil be watching it again.

Do you think we will ever get to see the Time War?

Hoepfully we will see the Master next season casting ideas? Other than 'not Peter Key'?

I thought it was mint.

I'm not a massive who expert or fan but I think it's a very good show.

Looking at a lot of the hardcore Who fans, there seem to be a farily sizable (or at least vocal) portion of bitter twisted [composite word including 'f*ck'] that want to rip the piss out of the series, esp a lot of the 'artistic licence' parts, when with a lot of em you can quite easily resolve a plausible resolution if you just have a bit of a think and SUSPEND YOUR BELIEF!

The amount of people that refuse to do this when watching sci fi, which lets face it ISN'T ******* REAL is beyond belief.

I just get the impression that many who fans dont even try to enjoy the show, they just eatch to scrutinise it. Obviously if something is done badly then cuss it down, a la TF's done by Dream Wave, who just had no clue about the mythos. But here, the people working on the show know the material and in general do not mess with established ideas, i.e. didn't bend to allow the Daleks to team up with the Cybermen, Daleks then kicked **** out of the Cybermen etc.

Yeah, thought it was great, dont really see why a fairly large chunk of the fan base have problems with the Tylers and Mikey.

Well you're meant to infer it- The Doctor goes up to the Cyberleader with his white flag and it cuts away before they have their full chat so the moment where the doors blow open and Cybermen and humans come in blasting away comes as a suprise.

Lovely episode, though consideirng they've been saying for ages now the season would end on a massive cliffhanger the bride bit was slightly anticlimatic (and yes, I realise they just said that so we'd think Rose really would die).

And locking the Daleks up with their guns still attached and active was a very silly thing to do really...

I actually felt sorry for the Cyberman- For the first time ever they had a credible plan (no attacking a planet full of Gold or leaving themselves vulnerable to text death here)- But the Daleks show up and reduce them to second tier cannon fodder.

yeah, i've always had a soft spot for the old cyber dudes (although, for some reason, i've not warmed to these neo cybes for some reason). but this was there best plan ever(tm)! as the doc said, "this isn't an invasion, it's a victory"... but oh no... the Daleks turn up and piss on their parade (in spectacular style i must say "you are superior in only one way - you die easier" (paraphrased) and "this is not war, this is pest control!")
good to see that there were opening left for both the cybes and the daleks to return tho (the non alt-cybermen, i.e. those made on our earth, wouldn't have been sucked back into the void and the black dalek making that emergency temporal jump) unlike last year's eradicating from time and space that had to be worked around...

the non alt cybesd may have been sucked in as well - as the materials that were used had probably been through the void.

i reckon.

The people that get turned into Cybermen in normal earth - I can't understand it. There is no ******* way I'd get in one of those machines.

If I get killed for refusing, fair enough.
