Dr Who episodes!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It's that 'licking my muffin' joke from 'Friends'.

But does my idea give you the warm fuzzies now?

Well, we know the saviour isn't Rose, the Slitheen Cardiff Mayor (although that was an interesting 'corporate' entry for Bad Wolf), Rose's Mum, or Lynda with a Y.

And if it was Mickey, wouldn't the deep voice clip have gone something like:

Doctor: how did you survive the time wars?
Mickey-DeepVoice: S'up, Doc? Told ya I was gonna get ya for dumping me girlfriend, ya know? Wha's goin' on, man? You gonna stir up trouble when I'm making my move? I'm gonna git you, man!

Or maybe not...

Was the controller supposed to be recognisable, ro was she just a random?

pretty dark the way she was scarred from all the tubes. Nice the way they didn't dwell on it at all, felt like really good attention to detail but there was no showiness about it.

My concern with the 'twist' is that i can'tthink of anyone who i would 'like' it to be. Hmm.

Paul McGann's Doctor.

Doctor: "Hello Ricky."

I think - disappointingly - it's going to be the obvious as to who the voice is. And I don't mean Stephen Hawking with a blocked nose...

Heh heh heh...me downloads came through last night and I've beenwatching these while building websites all morning. Must be getting old - I got quite emotional several times, especially in the one with Rose's dad and the last one.

But Shockwave always had that edge of resignation in his voice in the Cartoon.

Deep-voice is all boast, boast, boast.

I'm going through Lost In Time at the mo. Going by the surviving episodes Dalek Masterplan looks like it was bloody excellent. :( I'm also thinking Crusade is a bit better than the Aztecs as far as early historicals go... (actually, its really unhelpful the way they plonked the 2 audio only eps on the DVD without pictures or narration - I had real trouble following them)

y'know what, i'd totally forgotten they'd put audio on the Lost in Time set, i'm going to have to go back and listen to them (i've developed a bit of a taste for Who audio lately - been tearing my way through the Big Finish stuff that i can get my hands on!)

Yeah Spare Parts is a good one, i've just got my hands on Jubilee and it's another great one and there is no doubting why RTD had Rob Shearman base "Dalek" on it, it's a corker so far!

I really really wish that the Christmas episode of that one had survived. Unfortunately, it's the least likely missing ep to turn up as it was the only one that was never sold abroad. :(

I'm sure that there's a reconstruction or two of those missing eps available somewhere. I'd have to look it up, though.

I've seen vertually every story from 1975 to 1989 now. :o I'm only short about 4 Toms and 1 Syl.

Still got a lot of Jons to get through.

I'm actually warming to Jon, not that i ever disliked his take on it, but recently i've started to really enjoy his era... i dunno, maybe it's just Jo's skirts or something... ;)

Or maybe the direction of the neutron flow has been reversed once too often?

[pedant]he only reversed the polarity of the neutron flow twice - once in The Sea Devils and once in The Five Doctors[/pedant

Though Jon's consistently in my bottom two Doctors (together with Peter Davison), I do enjoy the vast majority of his stories.

The early stuff I've seen Jon in (Spearhead, Ambassadors, Inferno - I've yet to see Silurians) he's damn cool in. I think Inferno is amazing.

The others I've seen of his aren't anywhere near as good, though I'd probably place him above the 6th and 7th Docs.

I've seen a fair bit of Bill and Pat. I think I prefer Bill, mainly because I prefer Ian and Barbara to Pat's companions.

Is there a list available of all their complete stories?

Jon's first season is very strong sci-fi. The style definitely changes in his second but it's still good, although the constant use of the Master does start to grate after a couple of stories. The Silurians is a classic story and one i really do hope they get around to releasing on DVD at somepoint as my UKGold copy of it is starting to show it's age!

It's strange, but when McCoy was on TV i thought i really liked his take on it (well, the later seasons, his first was dire)... but now when i rewatch it, i find that my memory must have tainted by the New Adventures books as it's really not as good as i thought i remembered it to be.
ColDoc i never, ever liked when he was on TV, most of his stories were total crap, his only saving grace was Peri bouncing around the screen. However, having recently got the 2Docs on DVD, i quite liked his perfomance in that (and hope that they get around to releasing Attack of the Cybermen soon, not because it's the Cybermen (they get totally raped as villians in that i think, i mean, taken out by a pistol? sheesh) but because of Colin's (and Nicola's of course!) portrayl in a not-as-bad-as-the-rest-of-them story), and his Big Finish stories are just great. It's a real shame, but i think if he'd been given a break with better stories, his 6th Doc would have been so, so much better.

I don't mind Col, I just thought the whole TOATL thing was really really dreadful. I find the rest of his stuff quite watchable.

With Sylv I think Remembrance, Fenric and Survival are wicked. Not that bothered about his others.

TOATL is total tripe imho, Twin Dilemma and The Mark of the Rani are not much better which only leaves him, what, 3 or 4 storys? Poor ColDoc...

Yup, Remeberenace and Fenric were both good 'uns. Wasn't that keen on Survival personally, it was ok, but Hale and Pace kind of spoil it a bit for me ;) Am partial to a bit of Silver Nemesis, although that does continue the pussification of the Cybermen unfortunately. Poor Cyberdudes...
