If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Does anyone here write a blog?

I have just started http://doggybot.blogspot.com/ if anyone wants to have a look.

I'm not really sure what I should be writing, but have used it to rant about stuff and use it like a diary.

Frig, man! You've written more in 1 day than I do in a month!

As to what content, just write what you want, that's what everyone else seems to do: rants, raves, things that seemed good at the time but not now you've read them back, things that you really think are worth writing down but can't remember when you're in a position to write them down, etc.

i really don't understand the 'new' fashion for blogs, online journals have been around for years!

i used to keep one, but I gave up. For one, it attracted too many flamers and for another I'm too bone-idle to keep it up to date <_<; >_>;

I write 'blogs' much like I do here. Infact, I repost a lot of what I write elsewhere, often in edited forms.

Here's one, 'utter stupid ******* *****', dedicated to Adrian Durham from Talksport and Rob Styles, a **** of a ref. I just lost it though so went off on one...

----------------------------------------------------------------:

Adrian Durham - He's one ******* stupid ****. I'm listening to him on the radio right now - arrogant, poorly informed, mouthy ****.

Rob Styles - Stupid bent ref ****.

Chris Moyles - Utterly unfunny, loud mouthed **** of a ****. "Whooo, I've surrounded myself with loads of northern monkies who know they're off the payroll if they dont laugh at my ****".

Fatoid - the unfunniest people I've ever met like Chris Moyles and/or Kiss100. One of these people is called 'blowy' and goes swimming on Friday instead of getting out. Regardless, Moyles is a ****.

The cast of Grange Hill. All utter *****. Whatever happened to the golden years of Zammo, Ro-Land, Ziggy, Tucker, Bronson, Gripper, Danny Kendall and Pogo Patterson?

Actually, I know. Zammo became a ****** smackhead, Ro-Land probably ate himself to death... Ziggy was ace, I dont know what happened to him, Tucker died of the AIDS, Bronson got choked to death by Darth Vader, gripper no doubt runs a lot of **** in a prison somewhere and bums, the 'fresh meat', Danny Kendall killed himself and Pogo Patterson was just too massive to live, so I expect becaome the subject of a mercy killing.

Zane Lowe. What a ****! ****, desperately trying to sound cool, finger well off the pulse and sadly lacking behind new music DJ ****. XFM is much better without this ****. Saw him in KFC near leicester Sq once, he more or less bought the whole shop - If somebody told him his chicken had bird flu I have no doubt he would have still scoffed it. This NZ manchild **** of around 30 claims to like the sort of music favoured by kids who bring Uzis to school. His trick of RANDOMLY stressing WORDS and tendency to over dramatise EVERYTHING he says to make himself sound INTENSE and interesting makes my TEETH hurt.

This would make a good Bulletin...

I prefer to structure around subjects I find interesting than just ramble. A site is a way to keep in touch with people, throw a bit of information out there that may be of use to a few people, and experiment with writing styles.

I have one. http://www.livejournal.com/users/amberfields/

I don't consider it voyeurism cause I choose what I write. People don't put stuff on their blogs that they don't want other people to read. At least I don't

Pretty much. The main beneficiary of a 'personal' blog is the blog writer. It must be therapeutic, I suppose. Most are best composed in 'notepad.exe' and kept only in 'C:\My_Documents\Diary\mypetcatdidthefunniestthingtodayOMG.txt', though.

There are some 'public' ones of interest, such as various blogs from business leaders and ones that detail miscellaneous interesting weblinks.

I write mine mainly to help people with weight loss by describing my own journey. A lot of friends of mine are in several Weight Watchers LJ communities and we use our LJ's to encourage each other.

Cool blogs. :)

Yeah, I've never really gotten into 'public' blogging. I've been keeping various forms of online journals since 2001 and only one or two through the years have been public. I think I'll give it another go though... I've never tried the blogging thinger Hound posted and it looks interesting. If anyone's nosy enough head on over to:

nice! :)

I want to make one too, but know that at the moment I'll only write in it once or twice...

Maybe make a new website and put in a bloggy thing there.

I did one once for the message board I had on my site. However, my girlfriend at the time was rather uncomfortable with this (and, in retrospect, my gushing....prose was a bit much, really) so it now lies safely password protected and unlinked, trapped in a realm where no one gives a ****...
