If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I actually like Angel nowadays (doing my best to like Buffy too).
Is this an episode you're talking about? If so, what season?

Fred dies.
I love Fred.
And Fred's legs.
Its brillaintly done and hence absolutely gutting.
It works best if you watch, at least, the episode before as well, Smile Time.

I managed to grab "A hole" from Kazaa. It's 450 MB.
I'll look for "Smile time" now then. Thanks for the recommendations.
Eline - did you see these episodes already? I could burn them on cd-rom and come over to your place, so we could watch them together?

I was going to post similar yesterday on the other thread, but didn't know where you'd got to.
The acting from her and Wes when she's dying is horrible (not horrible-'bad' but horrible-'I'm-going-to-cry-like-a-baby').
The part that shocked me was when she starts to sing and Lorne spins around with that look of horrified concern, and she suddenly coughs blood all over Wes and then passes out.
Great stuff though, and we still get to see Amy Acker so it's not all bad.

The bit with the blood cough is the only bit that feels forced for me... the way it's "Lorne notices something's wrong, then it's wrong!" just grates. Rest of it's superb, though.
Possibly prefer Shells, though.
Grrr. Argh.

This really is quite a wrenching episode; Joss is good at that, isn't he?
I actually really like how the character is written the rest of the season; I won't ruin anything; I'll just say that he does a bang-up job.
Buffy: Giles, There are two things that I don't believe in: coincidence and leprechauns.
Giles: Well, Buffy, it's entirely possible that they both arrived here by chance simultaneously.
Buffy: Okay, but I was right about the leprechauns, right?

How brilliant is Not Fade Away?
Every single character gets to be supercool and have a hero moment, whilst still getting to be the character.
"Can I deny you three times?"
Grrr. Argh.

Poor Wes - brilliant scene.
Poor Lorne as well, even felt bad for Linsey.

Hey, it's not the proper apocalypse if anybody survives, right?

Well, that was always my interpretation of the shanshu thing... Wes' first translation was on the money all the time.
Wes is brilliant all through the series. Especially in Lineage and Shells.
Lindsey was great value. Especially his death. "You don't kill me! Angel... kills...". Quality.
I think one of the ways the series was brilliant is that I barely noticed Cordy was gone until she came back and was absolutely brilliant.
Grrr. Argh.

Not Fade Away so much more of a complete ending to a series than Chosen was.
" This goes all the way through to the other side. So, I figure, there's a bloke somewhere around New Zealand standing on a bridge like this one, looking back down at us. All the way down. There's a hole in the world. Feels like we ought to have known."
A Hole in the World is fast becoming one of my favorite episodes in spite of Fred's death. Everything from the fact that Wesley finally gets his girl for the briefest of moments to the astronauts v cavemen battle to the decision whether to save Fred or not to the final moments, it could be one of the top 5 episodes of the series. Season 5 is amazing! A Hole in the World, Shells, You're Welcome, Not Fade Away, Lineage...so many great episodes...and they turn Angel into a puppet!
