Laptop HD Help

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Laptop HD Help

Post by Tired Tracks » Thu Mar 10, 2005 12:41 pm

My laptop's hard drive died on monday and I'm in desperate need of a working computer for college.

I've been shopping around and this is pretty much all I can seem to find:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp ... 5432668959

Is that a good company to buy from? I've very limited in what stores I can shop at since there aren't many in Maine. I know of a Best Buy and a circuit city that I can go to.

Help?

I'm not so hot on laptop HDs, but I'd say that it's quite a reasonable deal, although I'm pretty sure that if you had more choice, you'd be able to get the same specs HD for somewhere in the region of $159.99 from somewhere.

I hate laptops. Too little.

The beauty of this is, the closest Best Buy is a 2 hour drive away, so I called them... and the website says that store has it in stock, but the guy on the phone said they don't. The cicuit City told me they've never carried notebook HD, and then the place Magna Prime told me of wanted 200 bucks for an 80 GB drive.

A friend of mine in Massachusetts is planning on visiting and will try to buy one on the way up for me. :)

I've never cared much for laptops, but it was the 'standard issue' from the last college I went to, its no longer under warrenty, and a HD is cheaper than a new computer.
