I've already lasted longer than 1 month, so 2 weeks aren't that hard.Best First wrote:Can i do it? eh?

I used to start my night off with a bottle of Goldschlager and end it (about 6 hours of drinking and vomiting later) with a shot of Everclear. Now, I drank a couple of pints of Wexford last night and got a pretty good buzz. So taking a break, even a short one can really mess up your tolerance, which is a good thing
Oh yeah, and I woke up this morning hearing Koen in the living room.. Downing the last of the pint I didnt finish. Good job Joey I hate when he climbs his baby gate.

Tshh... I'm always very much unimpressed by people who are addicted to smokes or alcohol. I never smoked in my life (except for Emvee's weed), and only from time to time drink a beer. I could give up on that instantly, there's just no reason to.
I think it's a much better idea to cut down on alcohol in general if you think you're drinking too much, than to abstain for two weeks or so.
But I'm just really tired at the moment, so perhaps my opinion is a bit unsubtle.

that would be a euphemistic way of saying 'i know i'm being a bit of a knob but i'm not going to let that stop me', eh?Dylan wrote: But I'm just really tired at the moment, so perhaps my opinion is a bit unsubtle.
the difficulty will actually be because the pub is a large part of my social life and my social life is a large part of how i'm dealing with what i have been going through recently. so kindly stick your judgements up your arse.

I don't see how my comment is euphemistic? I fully realise it's a fairly straightforward remark, and I'm still saying it.Best First wrote:that would be a euphemistic way of saying 'i know i'm being a bit of a knob but i'm not going to let that stop me', eh?
And I'm not judging your behaviour, I have nothing to say about that, though I do care about your well being. If drinking helps you in dealing with your troubles, then that's awesome, I mean that.
If you say - drinking is part of my social life, then ok, so be it. But I see no "reason" to drink alcohol during social gatherings.
It's all about why you would want to stop drinking for a while, really.

Wait, I'm confused. You're applaud drinking to "drown your sorrows" but you don't see a reason to drink with friends in a social setting? Usually it's the other way around for most people. I mean if you're at a bar with friends, you're supposed to have a beer, that's why you go to a bar. If you didn't plan on drinking than you should've gone to a restaurant or cafe.Dylan wrote: If you say - drinking is part of my social life, then ok, so be it. I applaud pretty much everything that helps you in dealing with issues.
(As long as you're not hurting yourself too much or anyone else etc etc).
Perhaps my experiences or views on things are just different from other people's - if I go to a pub or restaurant or cafe, it's because I want to talk to people, not to drink alcohol. But we don't have real "pubs" or "bars" in the Netherlands, we have cafe's, but maybe those are close enough. ("A place to meet people and drink beverages")
And what's normal "for most people" sometimes does seem pretty strange to me. The term "supposed to" usually triggers an alarm bell in my head.
