Second trailer online. Yeah, I could have put this in the other thread, but I can't be arsed.

This movie at least gets into "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish". At least thats my perception from the 2 trailers Ive seen.
Has Arthur call Trillian "Tricia" which could mean it goes all the way to "Mostly Harmless".. which would be bad. Talks of him falling in love ("Fenny"). Looked like Agrajag was in it.
Also spoke of Dolphins

KICK A$$! So Douglas Adams demand finnally came trough, Arthur Dent is an English man, or more accuratelly, played by one. It's so sad that Mr. Adams didn't get the opportunity to see it all tho. It was so close, so close.
Weirdly enough I never pictured Ford Prefect with a sorta scottish(?) accent, or any british accent. I suppose it totally makes sence tho, he's been there for a long time, and it makes him blend in.
Oh, and one last thing to say about this movie :
So...British.

I think it'll be alright, I think the guy from the office will play Arthur dent fine, it looks great. I love these books, definatley on my to watch list. I hoped they'd make a trilogy of films at least though
I hope the scene in the Cathedral is in it, you know the re-incarnation bit. (Didn't want to say to much and ruin what I thought was the best bit)

Comic bookfilms are usually crap - for every Spiderman 2 or Hellboy theres a dozen Catwoman (.....a dozen catwomen........ ummmm......yeah........sorry getting distracted )
But this is different. Its worked as a radio play, a TV series, a book. All you have do is cast it well (looking good), include the important bits that made it memorable (check), and, as it is already funny surely to god you can't possiblly make a dogs breakfast out of it.
Even with the dodgy sets, bad costumes and 'Dr Who' stylee sfx the TV series was great! surely it can't go wrong...............

On this link there are several variations of the trailers including a more straight forward version of the guide (not as funny) but with an orchestral verion of the TV theme at the end.

Martin Freeman .... Arthur Dent
Mos Def .... Ford Prefect
Sam Rockwell .... Zaphod Beeblebrox
Zooey Deschanel .... Tricia McMillan ("Trillian")
Bill Nighy .... Slartibartfast
Warwick Davis .... Marvin the Paranoid Android
Alan Rickman .... Marvin the Paranoid Android (voice)
Stephen Fry .... The Book (voice)
On another note , while I know the script is redone, what books will it mostly be based on?
The TV series was books 1 and 2 but the 'save the universe' plot the trailer implies it has was book 3. The later books were much weaker.
I always loved the bitter sweet ending to the series (Author and Ford walking off to "Louis Armstrong's "Wonderful world") after finding out the question to the ultimate answer and the rather tragic origins of humanity. It was such a perfect end.

It's mostly based on the scripts D.N.A. completed—saying it's based on the books kind of misses the point, as the series has already been radio, TV, books and comics, and different in each medium.Jetfire wrote:what books will it mostly be based on?

They have been different, but much from medium to medium many of the same bases have been convered in terms of the jokes used and the plot points.Denyer wrote:It's mostly based on the scripts D.N.A. completed—saying it's based on the books kind of misses the point, as the series has already been radio, TV, books and comics, and different in each medium.Jetfire wrote:what books will it mostly be based on?
