If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Rambling professor
Post

I've decided that I really don't like my Biology professor.
Don't get me wrong, he's a really nice guy. But he rambles like you would not believe! If somebody can tell me what shark attacks and the IRS have to do with the cell membrane, it would be greatly appreciated!
I've finally gotten to where I just write fanfic in class and read my textbook when I get home. Fortunately I took college level biology in high school, so I'm really not learning anything, just remembering it.
But that teacher...

Hmm, he sounds like a pretty cool teacher to me.

And I'll bet a lot of the ramblings is because the other students knows he's gonna answer them, and keep asking things that are off topic.

I had a prof like that. It was much fun. Some friends, other people and I (pretty much most of the class actually) took particular joy in doing what we could to steer him off course... someone would make him go off track and the rest would keep it going. He'd go off topic, then go back on, then we'd get him off topic again, then he'd go back on...

Sounds like me.
Only, I don't teach Biology.

For some reason I thought of that 'Colonel Sanders' professor from THe Waterboy before reading this...

Maybe it's just me, but I'm in that class to learn, and I'm not learning anything from him, only from the book.
I just hate to waste money, and I'm paying for that class, so if he doesn't teach it effectively, it's a waste of my money.

I don't mind when my profs do that in classes that I can breeze through, but for classes that I have difficulty with, a rambling professor can be a real pain in the ass.
My Technical Editing prof, for example, spent 45 minutes of a class talking about her other job and assigned homework in the last five minutes of the class based on material we didn't cover because of her rambling. Problem!

Physics? I think you would have loved to have me as a student, I thought those things was fun, and had the habit of keep asking things
on the subject all the time. My fellow students however weren't as amused by my curiosity: "Oh for f*cks sake Preds!! This class ends now!!"

Shame.
![Sad :(](images/smilies/frown.gif)
Nature-sciences, and biology in particular was my favorite. Avionics ey? That was acctually one of the directions you could choose on my Electrics-education in college.
I however, chose Electronics instead. I didn't want to have it on my consience for killing hundreds of people.
![Smile :)](images/smilies/smile.gif)
I didn't choose Electric-installation (In houses and such) for similar reasons.
I also had a blast with electronics, first time I made my first butt-ugly radio work was like a piece of heaven!

Ah, the good days. The teenage days. They ended but 1,5 years ago.

Yanno what's funny? I loved Biology in high school, but now I find that I like Chemistry more. Skinda weird, cause I absolutely loathed Chemistry before now.

Yeah, but you change and things change.
I used to hate blue, and now I quite like it.
I used to hate/dislike physics, but that was just because the teacher couldn't explain it in a way that I understood. At university, it was much more clear and therefore more fun.

Actually that's true.. considering that my 11th grade English teacher said I couldn't recognize irony if it walked up and slapped me
