Fun in the snow...

Fun in the snow...

Post by Kaylee » Wed Feb 23, 2005 3:50 pm

I nearly got killed driving back down the M20 last night, before the car finaly left the road around a corner just 4 miles from canterbury

The snow was so thick! You couldn't see more than 10 foot in front of you, then suddenly these sharp turning signs appeared out of the gloom and despite not going fast the car wouldn't turn- the wheels did but the car didn't.

Luckily as I was going slow so all that happened was the car bumped up onto the fence. The front left wheel was over a small concrete barrier, but stopped short of the metal fence. Lucky as the other side was a sheer drop.

Course there was no grip on the road so I couldn't reverse out! I was there until 2:30AM waiting for Green Flag to come pull me out.

Luckily I don't think the car's damaged. I'll take it to Kwik Fit shortly and get the front wheels checked- hopefully all that happened was the tracking just got knocked out of alignment.

Yikes, I'm never driving in snow again. I'll walk in the future.

here's some photos I took outside the house (we live up Spring Lane in Canterbury)

Snow sucks.

Never go to Kwik Fit in Huntingdon - miserable unhelpful sods.

Me: "Could you take a look at my tracking for me, mate?"
Caveman: "Ugh."
Me: "Uhm..."
Sullen git: "Not now, no."
Me: "Okay... uhm..."
Mr What-do-you-expect-me-to-do-about-it?: "Gonna be an hour or so before we can do it."
Me: "Would it help if I came back later?"
Drive-Thru Operative: "If you want. Somebody else might come though."

So I took it into a small local concern in St Ives instead.

Bloke: "How can I help?"
Me: "Check my tracking?"
Bloke: "No problem. Which car is it? What happened? Okay, we'll balance your wheels, too. Should be done in twenty minutes."
Me: "Sorted."

[/off topic]

Snow sucks.
Grrr. Argh.

I need mine done!

Photographing snow while it's falling is so cool. :headbang:

Unlike photographing an empty street in a snow storm then posting the image on the bbc website so everyone can see the lack of falling snow. :sheba:

I'll have to dig out the photo I took of my sister's old house on chrimbo day. got good snowfall in that one. :)

Yesterday where I was the whole sky seemed to go orange, giving everything a very weird tinge.

Then suddenly the snow fell - the ground was covered in a minute.

Took a picture with my camera phone - didn't do it justice. :(

edit - Glad you're ok Karly. :)

Glad your okay, Karl! :)

Yesterday morning my boyfriend came running into my room saying it was snowing. That's always good, waking up when it's snowing. Like the world is new and pretty. :)

Relieved you didn't get hurt man. :( Fresh snow can be treacherous, and especially in a bloody storm. You'd think us northsmen would have learned that by now, but still there is every year a load of people that get hurt here because of this.

Kwik Fit did it for £23.99, which wasn't bad. It was only out by 3mm, and considering it took quite a wack when I went into the side I was quite surprised it was so little.

Thanks for the well-wishes... I'm glad my car wasn't damaged! Mad thing is accidents never worry me at the time... like when I came off my motorbike going round a sharp corner, or when I was attacked in the West Bar. I generally just shrug and get on with it!

I must lead a charmed life..

Hmm..you've grown quite a lot more hair since you show-cased one of yer tattooes 1,5 years ago. Incidentally I had only slightly less hair than you have, but tonight I got a hair-cut. It's quite short, I was going to go Beckham-style but it didn't happen. Next time tho.

Aww, c'mon.

Sgt Elias in Platoon? Who wouldn't want to go down in the Vietcong with bullets riddling your betrayed body?

Seriously, tho, Karl, Steve only said you reminded him of Dafoe.

Luckily, you've got slightly fewer teeth, so your lips can actually form a seal around your mouth. ;)

Snow is fun! I love it here cause EVERYTHING shuts down if like half an inch falls. Unless you have to drive in it, then it's not so fun.

Glad you're okay, Karly!

Give me a flamethrower, I'll go and have some fun in the snow...

Yes, glad to hear you're okay man. And pics in a thread are always fun... the snow pics though, ugh. It looks horrible...

I hate winter. I hate the cold and the being landlocked by piled drifts more than anything. I hate it so ******* much that one day I'm going to move to a place where the people have not even heard of snow...

And then I'm going to miss it because that's just the way these things work. But right now, I hate it!

I can stand the thought of it in the summer though. ;)

Well the car seems alright, and I got the tracking fixed. Hopefully I got away with it. Although the starter motor died on me yesterday, so that was Green Flag called out again...

Some days you should just stay in bed I think.

Well, I love snow. It`s the best excuse to stayat home in front of the fire I can think of. Plus, I phoned in sick saying I`d fallen off my bike and hurt my ankle, and because it had snowed, they didn`t want to argue.

I love snow.
