Anyone intrested in a Gmail account?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Anyone intrested in a Gmail account?

Post by Gekigengar » Mon Feb 21, 2005 2:42 am

Well, if anyone is interested, 10 first post (not pm's) will get one. I will then click the email button on the post and send invite that way. If your email is private, I will PM you for your email.

Those that received one from me and activated it, please send invite to those that did not receive one as well.

Well that's 2, 8 more to go.

BTW, forgot to mention... you can also use your email client software to download Gmail as well... ie: outlook, mozilla, eudira, etc.

Just use the pop feature and follow the instructions to set it up.

http://www.gmail.com/ wrote:A Google approach to email.

Gmail is an experiment in a new kind of webmail, built on the idea that you should never have to delete mail and you should always be able to find the message you want. The key features are:
  • Search, don't sort.
Use Google search to find the exact message you want, no matter when it was sent or received.
  • Don't throw anything away.
1000 megabytes of free storage so you'll never need to delete another message.
  • Keep it all in context.
Each message is grouped with all its replies and displayed as a conversation.
  • No pop-up ads. No untargeted banners.
You see only relevant text ads and links to related web pages of interest.
And a log in page that looks like the old* yahoo log in page.

So, basically nothing.

* Old for yahoo mail, current for everything else, including "username/password incorrect"

Well my ISP email service is caped at 5 mb, my hotmail caped at 10 mb... I got coworkers that need to send email attachments almost 2 or 3 times as much since I help develop multimedia presentations... at time I have to send them as one whole piece that regular email service by my ISP would say "no... that is considered 'SPAM' email.", there are at times that the person sending me my projects would get an auto bounce back email stating that same reason.

This makes working at home much easier and plausible.

BTW, 4 invites done and 6 more to go... Fort Max are you interested?

Quite true indeed... but after inviting these 10 ppl, then they should be able to invite the next 10 more... ala pyramid scheme.

Just got this email from M$N... looks as though they want more of money in order to access certain features of Hatemail... I mean Hotmail.
Micro$oft M$N wrote:Dear MSN Member,

Recently, Hotmail® announced that in order to improve customer experience and reduce spam and junk e-mail abuse on MSN® services, Hotmail will no longer allow new e-mail accounts to be accessed via Microsoft® Office Outlook® and Outlook Express.

We are pleased to inform you that because you are an existing and valued customer, at this time your current Hotmail and MSN account(s) are exempt from this restriction and you will be able to continue enjoying access to those accounts from Outlook or Outlook Express. However, any new Hotmail or MSN accounts you create will not be accessible via Outlook or Outlook Express.

Because you actively use Outlook or Outlook Express to access one or more of your MSN Hotmail or MSN e-mail accounts, this could be the ideal time to consider subscribing to our powerful new
e-mail service - Microsoft Office Outlook Live.

As an Outlook Live subscriber, not only can you get uninterrupted access to your MSN e-mail accounts from Outlook, but you will also enjoy many other benefits.

As a thank-you for your loyalty to MSN, we'd like to offer you a 25% discount off the regular price of a year's subscription to Outlook Live. Sign up by April 19, 2005, and you can enjoy all your first year's benefits for just $44.95 instead of $59.95*.
