Anything by Radiohead. I believe they have never won a Brit Award.
Williams has apparently won far more Brit awards than any other artist. Its a disgrace.
I was there in the crowd at Glastonbury when he sang Angels in '98. I was the one shaking my head in disbelief and embracing the death of British rock. Whilst standing knee-deep in a puddle of slimy mud.

Don't qualify. The award was for best song of the last 25 years by a British artist. Because it's the Brits and everything.spiderfrommars wrote:Under the Bridge - Chili Peppers

No, Madonna doesn't count. Regardles of what she tells you.

I am envious of Robbie Williams' considerable wealth and associated power.
However, I am not envious of his utter lack of "songwriting" ability, his soulless boyband heritage, his arrogant self-satisfied nature, his average singing voice, and his inexplicable undeserved pop music following.
Some people were brainwashed by Take That/Robbie Williams from the very start. But whats really galling is that the rest of the 'public at large' followed suit, since Williams has seemingly survived this long in pop music wearing his 'emperor clothes'. Until such time as he magically finds the ability to write interesting and arresting music, I'll never accept Robbie Williams as anything other than an average pop singer who went on to write completely banal, awful, and unoriginal songs.
As for "Angels" itself... insightful, heartfelt, and inspired? No. INSIPID is the word to describe it. It's a song for people who don't really like music. A song for people who don't really have a music collection, but whose 3CD changer in their car has Robbie Williams, Dido, and Usher on rotation. A song for the kind of people who have the crazy frog sound as their ringtone. And they probably listen to 'zany' morning radio DJs who play the latest billboard chart dross.

I know he co-wrote "Come As You Are" (no, not that grunge one) with Bev Knight. That was an okay song. And he worked with Skin on "Lost".Brendocon wrote:Guy Chambers, on the other hand, has written some cracking pop tunes.
On the flipside, he's also worked with "Take That" Robbie Williams, "Westlife" Br[i/y]an McFadden, Delta Goddrem, Jewel Kilcher, "98 Degrees" Nick Lachey, 'Pop Idol' Will Young, "S Club 7" Rachel Stevens, Busted, and Natasha Bedingfield, which all seems very ominous to me.
What are some particularly noteworthy examples of good songs he wrote/co-wrote?

I love the tragic way radio 2 attempted to gain credibility by throwing in token songs from a few respected artists.
"Oh, this is the be all and end all, it is credible - look, Bowie! LOOK! BOWIE LOOK!"
It really annoys me when people do that.
Radio 2, you really annoy me.
2 songs I really, really like and probably will for evers are
Enjoy the Silence:

and
The Killing Moon:
