If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Its a joke really. I vow to never watch another England friendly (until the next one)

We were boring, could hardly string more than 3 passes together and created nothing (so far).

Sven seems to keep picking players and putting them out of posistion, instead of playing them to their strengths. Really, what was the point in Michael Owen playing, you know he is quality but we know nothing about Johnson, and Defoe deserves a game. Wright-Philips had a mare, but surely it would have been better to get 90 minutes under his belt. Why didn't Downing start...its a joke.

Bah that was rubbish, no point bringing new players in, who deserve it, only to not bother playing them, in a system that would favour them.

and what was all that wing switching buissnes. I think Sven thought Shaun and Rooney was Ronaldo and Rooney...

It's like watching Saints play. But without the depressing anxiety of imminent relegation...

It was pants and what's the point of Andy Johnson and Stuart Downing there if Eriksson is going to give them ten-fifteen minutes only and out of position? Shaun Wright-Philips had a nightmare.

The Dutch had a young side tonight and I bet they are quite chuffed about playing in a international match as opposed to the same old, same old England line-up but for injuries to most of the England defenders. It's like the England players were on tranquilizers for the match.

Bum.

thats what happens when you blatently foul teh defender before taking your shot...

That was abysmal.

Afterwards Sven basically said that Andy Johnstone should just be happy he played.

Utter waste of time. Gutted for Johnstone and Downing both.

How about Chelski do get Sven after all and we have Jose? Seems fair.

utter cock.

You at least didn't lose to Belarus 1:3. :(

But, I find confort in the fact that we lost to Denmark 1:5 last summer, and then somehow beat Northern Ireland, Wales and Austria, and played one of the better games against England I have seen (OK, only during first 46 minutes...) ;)

It was funny when we switched to France - Sweden for awhile and it was like: "What's that? Football in fast-forward?"

Sven is a ****.

This is the most talented bunch of players we've had for ages, to make them play **** takes some doing.

Send the **** to Chelsea.

i, er, i do not, how you say, er, want to take, you now, any risks ever.

what's everyone's ideal line up/formation at the moment?

Neville Ferdinand Terry Cole

Wright-Philips Lampard Gerrard Downing

Rooney Owen

only cos i can't think of anyone better than Owen. I'm blatently biased with regard to Downing, but hey ho. Beckham can sit on the bench.

Robinson

G.Neville
Ferdinand
Campbell
A.Cole

Beckham
Lampard
Gerrard
Bridge

Rooney
Owen

--
I'd need to see more of Wright-Phillips being played in an actual proper position at international level before making a judgement there. How the hell we can judge him as a right winger based on Sven's tactics last night is insane.

Theo Walcott for the left wing! Okay, maybe not. Give it a few years... or at least until he's 18 or in the Saints first team. Biased, me? Nah...
Grrr. Argh.

With the normal back 4 in place, I quite like 4-3-3 . they just didnt make it work.

lack of a big front man is a problem with that formation tho.

Robinson
Neville, Rio, Terry, Bridge - far better delivery then cole

Beckham/SWP, Gerrard, Lampard, Downing

Owen/Defoe, Rooney

Beckham has played **** for about 2 years now, I think that's to do with Sven not playing a proper team - if he plays, put him on the right you tit.

Downing is the obvious option on the left afaic. Quick, scores, can cross, HAS A NATURAL LEFT FOOT AND PLAYS ON THE LEFT.

Sven is ******* mad. Most that criticise him are amateur enthusiatst at best, but it's ******* obvious to everybody that what he's doing is utterly thick.

If he was being a stubborn ****, he would have stuck to his idiotic 442 with Gerrard or Lampard on the left, he has seemed pretty convinced - or he has tried to convince everybody else - that this is doable and he used this formation for ages. Beckham could have had the Scholed role and showed us all what a good cm he is and SWP could have played on the right.

But no. So unhinged is he, that he ****s his whole formation up for the sake of it, playing Rooney outside left?!?!?!?! and SWP outside rigth.

Mental.

It was a ******* friendly, just frop Beckham for the game ou stupid ****. Play natural wingers on their natural sides and pick Andy Johnson in his proper position.

****!

amateur enthusiatst
as opposed to professional enthusiasts?

Sven has done bugger all for England - which is a shame as i was vaguely optimistic about him when he was apointed.
