If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

WTF is he doing advocating players go against the regulations of his employer?
"If you are a professional football player it must be your right to listen if some other work is available," Eriksson said. "We are not living in a dictatorship, we are living in a democracy. I think that's important."
He then seemed to realise the implications of what he had said and added: "I don't want to comment on Ashley Cole, Arsenal or Chelsea. Right or wrong. I might have an opinion on that but I will never tell you."
Moron. What the hell do we pay this guy £3.5 million a year for?

You got a bit in your contract that says you can't ask around to see if there are any other jobs available?
Freedom of movement. EU labour laws. Piece of doddle. Rules against tapping up are illegal and in breach of the EU constitution - as are most things about football, it would seem.
Though I'd agree Sven should show a little bit of ******* sense and keep his mouth shut about it...
Grrr. Argh.

i have abit in my contract that says i cannot work for a client for 6 montsh after we have doen a project with em actually.
Plus if the FAs rules are illegal they should be challenged and removed.
Wouldn't mind if Englad were any good of course...

But does it stop you from going to an interview with a competitor?

All it takes is for somebody to twig and try to challenge it. Wouldn't surprise me to see it happen.
Though bearing in mind how long it took for the whole Bosman thing to happen, and then how long after that it took for them to realise that the entire transfer system's technically bollocks, it wouldn't surprise me if nothing happened.
Nice to see people standing up straight off and telling UEFA that their new homegrown guidelines are a crock of ****, though.
Grrr. Argh.

the problem with tapping in competiton.
essentially, Arse dont want to sell Cole, and hes under contract, so he cant leave for a while.
Chelski say "hello Cole, heres £10 million quid, play so **** for Arse untill they are forced to sell you, to us - enjoy your money, and look forward to £80k per week from us..."
Chelski have unlimted cash so they can do this to ever player they like, essentially 'buying' players indirectly under the table.

Yes, I hate to see people coming through the ranks. It makes me bitter about being played out of position all those times.
Or maybe I just like it when UEFA try and behave like the rules of business don't apply to them. They want to run football as an industry, the [composite word including 'f*ck'] can't complain when they get bitchslapped by the laws of industry.
[EDIT] Or alternatively, Arsenal are so dire that they can't catch Chelsea by convential means, so they say "right, Ashley. Ring up Jose, say you want a chat - then we'll leak it to the papers and get the FA to dock the [composite word including 'f*ck'] a load of points. Bargain!"
Grrr. Argh.
