I very seldom use Firefox, though my boyfriend has installed in on my computer. The java website/game he designed doesn't work on my computer, only with Firefox, so that's why I have it.

I don't use it because all my bookmarks are in Explorer and I'm too lazy to find out how to transfer them.

When you install Firefox a dialogue box opens up and says "Import favorites/bookmarks from Internet Explorer?"

Laziness is no excuse.

'Tho' I can't make Firefox log out of Transfans...if I click "Log out Metal Vendetta" the page refreshes but I'm still logged in :???: Help! I'm stuck here!

Cause I use Netscape 7.2, cause it's more rad. :p (heh, I know what N7.2 is based on..) I'm using the silver-skin on that one. I tried downloading a gut-load if skins for it, but for some reason they never seem to work  ??

Small note of shame: because I reformated my comp and put in winxp and Doom3 & HL2 I can't have that many programs on my comp, so I had to axe it, there just wasn't enough room on my 20 Gb h-drive.

I know...

It's also that I don't really see the need to change to Firefox.

its better then IE ?

I use a download manager, so i can view downloads and stuff in a tab,
a tabbed browser edtion that opens links in a new tab, and new tabs open with the firefox/google page (google is always my home page)
plus, double clicking a tab closes it.
also a nifty plug called 'fireFTP' that opens an FTP app in, u guess it, a tab! so i can access all my web servers via firefox...

joy.

themes, Noia 2.0 at the moment :)

Read this:

http://www.scatmania.org/archives/2004/ ... e-exploit/

And that's just one of the most benign.
Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:What themes or Firefox extensions do u use?
AdBlock
Nuke Anything (invaluable if you want to quickly edit a page before printing!)
FlashBlock
User Agent Switcher (which I haven't used since I installed it)
ieview
Web Developer
SessionSaver
Clone Window

Versions of the last two that work with 1.0 currently here:
http://virtualdebris.co.uk/temp/extensions/

I couldn't imagine not being able to save the group of browser windows I'm working on, not being able to get rid of flash content, popups, images or other page elements that annoy me, etc. I'd go nuts.

I have fireFTP (and some others) installed, but haven't used them. I prefer FileZilla for FTP stuff.

The default theme is fine, and I have icons, the address bar and the menus all on one row, with a drop-down bookmark folder for easy access to links.

I use Firefox, but my intarnetweb-fu is basic, so I don't really use any additional things for it.
Would recommend it's ninjaness to anyone, though.

I'm not sure if a version that supports 1.0 has been submitted to update.mozilla.org ... I might see what's required and do so myself if it's possible.

Not letting plugins automatically install and run on versions of Firefox they haven't been tested on is crucial, as the main Firefox application can change between versions... on the other hand, there are some plugins that aren't actively maintained by an author, so when Firefox hit 1.0 they were left unusable. Many just needed a small bit of information changed, some have been picked up by other people and extensively rewritten. Some got lost.

I too have embraced the mystic ninja powers of Firefox... only mine is fat and lacking in the ninja-stealth department. I haven't gotten around to upgrading to the current version yet, but I'll be remedying that right now.

Mozilla, just like most graphical browsers. And those that aren't are based on Mosaic, as is Mozilla.

Netscape does this.

Does this too.

Doesn't do this, as I prefer it not to.

Right-click, Close tab. Not as quick, sure, but the same effort is required.
Impactor returns 2.0 wrote:also a nifty plug called 'fireFTP' that opens an FTP app in, u guess it, a tab! so i can access all my web servers via firefox...
Hmm, I expect there's a plugin for Netscape that does that.

Too true. And I hereby encourage the developers of Firefox to make a version that does not come up with that message every time I use a machine where I've used it before, but the previous user was not me.

And as I am mostly using machines where the previous user wasn't me, I think I'll stick to Netscape, for now. Profile Manager. Mmmm!

I'd answer "Aren't all web browsers?", but it depends on what you're asking firefox is free from. ;)

Hmm.. I suppose you mean that you know that you can use themes in netscape, (it contains two standards, classic & chrome, or something like that) but you really just don't care about it?
Metal Vendetta wrote:When you install Firefox a dialogue box opens up and says "Import favorites/bookmarks from Internet Explorer?"

Hmm..not quite, it instead does it automatically, without asking, but it only does it once. I'm sure you can add more later on, never tried.

Foxes are as cute as any other comparably-sized carnivorous mammal...the fox that I used to watch from out of my bedroom window (he set off the security lights every time he came into the garden) was a damn sight cuter than any dog, and a reasonable number of cats, that I've ever seen.

Or are you one of those pro-hunting Nazis?

Not really. I just think that the vast majority of the (many) foxes I've seen are horrid little creatures.

I'm not generally inclined to support people who want to make a sport out of pest control, but at the same time I get very agitated by people who senselessly vilify and persecute those who do hunt them. I'm also not really fond of people who hypocritically try and put a moral guilt trip on those who don't share their viewpoint by calling them Nazis. But I'm sure you were just using humour, so I'll let it slide this time.

Firefox is fairly nifty, though, I'd agree.

Urban foxes are generally pretty horrid (to look at anyway) because of poor diet, lack of shelter etc. They have a lifespan approx. one tenth of that of rural foxes. Of course no-one ever rides their hunts through the city centres, so it's usually the healthier rural foxes that end up being eaten by the hounds.

Nazi.
