InDesign, is it any good?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

InDesign, is it any good?

At the moment I'm using Illustrator to layout a one-page newsletter, which is kinda weird but works so far, but I'm thinking of switching to InDesign because it looks very useful and I very much like the name

Do any of you have experience with this program? What I'd like to know is if it's:
- easy to learn
- has nice features that makes your pages look amazing
- compatible with other programs (and if you can make PDF pages)

And just your experience, so I know what to expect from it. :)

As a DTP package its very cool, when used with Illustrator and Photoshop etc.

U got al your text features like wrapping around objects, and it sets up bleed for print etc.. - its obviously got lots more features to it, but id say if your used to Adobe stuff and have to lay out a few pages its very usefull.

What makes it more powerfull for doing big publications is when you can create templates and font sets. and even image sets.

so for example, you have template page, with a title header, certain style, the content is a certain font, and has more styles. the pictures u use have some sort of border.

everything is applied for you from your style pallet much like how u might work with templates in a web page package like dreamweaver for example.

Have u looked at adobes web site? u can watch a demo of all the good bits and download a trial.

sounds pretty good! :) I like the fact that you can use it with Photoshop and Illustrator, since that are the other programs I use for the newsletter. Templates are always nice.

for the moment, I'm just going to use it for this newsletter. And maybe play with it for myself if I have any spare time left (:()

I have viewed the website, but not the demo yet.

... borrow money and pay the product? ;)

Sometimes I wish I could buy all these things. Other times I wish they were not so very expensive.
