Final Straw

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

You want cold my friend, come hang with me some weekend in January...we'll have to drink just to keep the blood from freezing inside our bodies! Sorry about the pipes...was there some poor upkeep on your place prior to moving in?

yeah galvy I hear yall are around -50 or something ridiculous. And as far as heat, I grew up in Louisiana, it doesnt get much hotter than 100+ with 120% humidity (by livable standards for humans before you make a smart comment rebis ;) )

the upkeep was not great, but it was done by family in order to give us a "cheap place to live so we can save money" unfortunately it is an old trailer that requires propane for heat and I dont have the money for it at the moment. was going to get it next week but my pipes froze before then. I still had water in my kitchen so I knew that I just needed to thaw the pipes inside. I have since gotten the cold water running in the bathroom so that is good news. Now I just have to get the hot water going.

thanks for the support everyone.

edit: Not only have I gotten the hot water working, I have fixed my faulty hot water heater and took the first actual HOT shower in months here. .. Still hate the cold, but I feel a little less worthless fixing something on my own :)

Men who can fix things are very valuable and sexy. Go you! Your wife must be delighted.

I can't fix anything. :( I am not a practical man. The best I can do is change a light bulb. Can't do plugs even.

My gf is truly exasperated.

i think on reflection that was one of those flippant statements women make to crush whatever remains of man's collective self esteem and confidence.

:(

There are many things a man can do to make a woman happy. Though as I am not a technical heroine, a man who fixes my broken bike or something can make me happy. :)

Crap, did I just say that. That was in bad taste.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

OPR, take care man...
Still planning on moving home despite the turn of events?
Things can feel bad now, and totally different the next day. Good luck in whatever you do choose!
Eline wrote: There are many things a man can do to make a woman happy.
I've found a nicely timed back rub can be just as good as any chore! It really comes down to what you would like at that moment I think.
When I stayed at my girlfriends house I tried to impress her mom by helping clean up the dinning table as much as I could, despite my uselessness in the kitchen. I mean, I never eat at a table so my girlfriend even served me like her mom serves her dad... I was grateful for that. ^^

Of course, guys like women that can do things for them too, so its not like the "Men who fix things are sexy" applies to only men ;-p

No, most of us spend our blighted lives miserable and dejected because a woman did something so callous and heartless that she makes Shockwave look like a Care Bear.

Oops...bitterness is showing again.

I don't know, I just found her by googling "stupid", but that picture was taken on my birthday, and that's a good enough reason to post it.

Be quiet when there's something on the telly that I want to watch?

Realise that my sole purpose in life is not to clean the house so that you can mess it up again?

Not ask me pointless questions when I've managed to attain the perfect level of comfort on the sofa, and am about to have a snooze?

Not repeatedly ask me what temperature you need to set the oven to when you have the packet for whatever it is you are cooking in your hand?

Realise that you have enough shampoo's and conditioners to fill a warehouse, and that you really don't need the latest neutra-ceramicafied-perma-straight-frizz-anti-dandare-Beyonce-endorsed bottle of muck from L'oreal?

Any of those?

But that wouldn't be any fun. Unless I had a Stargate-one that was laying horizontally so that I could jump into it like it was a swimming pool.

As long as the other end wasn't vertical... would make for quite a rough landing, but an impressive one...

Maybe I could have one of those velcro wall things set up at the other end, and then I could fly through looking resplendant in my velcro covered jump-suit?

Well, if you guys don't want to live together with women, I guess I'll have to give them a bit of attention myself.
