If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Be A Moviestar
Post
by Dylan » Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:49 pm
Just found out they're holding auditions for a new program: 'Be A Moviestar' is Idols for actors.
I'm thinking of signing up.
Any advice? Pro's? Cons?
I understand it could be really embarressing, or disappointing. But I'm not afraid of failing.
It's more that I might finally be ready to risk success.

Possible con: being made fun of on international television. That could be a pro though depending on how seriously you take yourself.

I was offered a chance at the Blind Date TV show. But on second thought I declined. I should be the one doing the making fun of.

Take myself seriously? Just ask Karl.
And I just signed up!

Just remember your entourage here on Transfans when you go huge.
I wonder if there is a pr0n catagory, like in Idol when they have to sing different genre's every week.

I will! And I'm guessing there will be other auditioners present. You could always come with me if I ever get selected of course.

Half of my class is doing this moviestar thing.....
it will make you look like an idiot on tv...don´t forget it is the whole idea too let people look like idiots so the viewer can laugh at you...you know that right? unless you´re very good or a hot blonde or gay...
so don´t worry you´ll be fine

Bitchin man... cool to hear you're going for it. I'd sign up for Canada's own "Canadian Idol" if I thought I could carry a tune, I would.
![Razz :p](images/smilies/tongue.gif)
... not because I seriously want to be a successful singer or anything, but because it looks like just auditioning would be funny as hell!
I find odd things funny though... Advice? erm. Be you and have supportive people around... the last thing you'd need in a situation like that is a pessimistic voice.

I told you before that if you need people, I might be able to help out. Depends on whether it's worth our while of course.

you sly dog!
well in a couple of weeks i´ll have a casting for a small movie, i can mail you some details if you like. you can bring anyone you like who wants to try out for one of the 6 parts.
but it has to be in english so actors with a bad accent don´t need to bother
![Embarassed ](images/smilies/redface.gif)
sorry

My own pronounciation is ok, I'd say, but I don't know about the others. I guess they are regular dutch people. Fear the worst.
Hey, I received that email, thanks. I honestly can't say if I'll have time to participate, exactly the last two weeks I'll be working again. And when's the audition exactly?
Hrm. I'm not sure if I can drag a few souls with me either. Couldn't you bring your camera to Delft?

I am off to acting class in one hour actually.
This Saturday there's this performance night thing at our acting school.
Then there's a break of a few weeks.
Then we start with the next course. Mondays. 20.00 till 22.30.

You really planning on going then?
I'm sure no one will mind a camera. I'm guessing everyone's uncle's grandma will bring one too.
It's not that professional you know? Not yet anyway.

anyways i have to be at school in the morning(rotterdam) and at the film academy in the afternoon (amsterdam) voorlichtingsdag so i can be hopefully at delft to watch the future professionals

If you can't make it, you can't make it. Makes sense.
If you do come - my group starts at 20.20 or so. We only have 10 minutes anyway. But I'm sure the other groups are interesting also.
I've been thinking about taking pictures of some of my friends for a while now, at least of those at all interested in ever being in a play or a (short) movie or so.
One of my friends from acting class is into making movies too by the way. Even has his own little company set up. Makes a bit of cash with it as well (educational and promotional movies etc I believe).
Anyway. See you when I see you, Richard!
