HAPPY NEW YEAR ALL

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It is the year 2005...

...and apparently we do have Transformers walking around. In commercials.

It is the year 2005... the treacherous Decepticons have conquered the Autobots' home planet of Cybertron. But, from secret staging grounds on two of Cybertron's moons, the valiant Autobots prepare to retake their homeland!

Happy New Year!

I was wondering the other day... does anyone of you feel slightly disappointed that 2005 isn't filled with Transformers?

Of course, it's just a cartoon. And of course, even if it wasn't, Transformers would have been present on Earth since 1984.

But somehow I ever so slightly felt a same kind of disappointment (or relief) as perhaps readers of '1984' felt in 1984.

Even though I myself am not a real Transformers fan anymore, that one sentence has had a special meaning for me for decades now.
