Asian Tsunami

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I'd like to see a third comparison photo taken more recently on there, actually. I mean, now that the waters have receded again, it'd be an ideal comparison to take note of all the damage to infrastructure. Before, During & After.

The earth does wobble on it's axis.

We're talking crust-wise. Supposedly it was going to be some civilization-ending cataclysm. The wave was to knock the entire crust of the earth on it's side, but over the mantle. Think of the skin of an orange sliding over the actual inside fruit. The north pole was to be at the equator, other such nonsense. When I told my buddy's dad about the idea (the day of May 5th) he just started laughing and walked out of the room. I think I heard the words, "dumbest crock of **** I ever heard," among the laughter as he headed off.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Your buddy is the son of a geophysicist, right? ;)

Only thing that's gonna knock the crust around the Earth is if some large (and by large I'm talking Moon-sized or something even more massive) object grazed past us so close that it scuffed the surface.

Of course, if that happened, it'd be goodbye atmosphere, so we wouldn't be caring much about whether or not the ice caps were at the poles anymore.

Heh. All that talk of planet alignments reminds me of May 5th, 2000. So many were convinced with that many planets being aligned opposite us some huge gravitational wave would hit the earth and knock the entire thing on it's side.
Also this has happened countless times in earth history - and were still here. the grav effect was nothing I belive.
