Great CGI event top 20 for 2004 on CGTalk

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

yes Dylan - sorry for the late response been in out due to xmass. makes for a great read doesnt it?

For me Zbrush 2 is just an amazing tool. ive been learning it recently, and I wish a system like Zbrush could be intergrated into something max or maya etc... not that it really matters as you can export your new mesh back to your fav application. the detail you can create in a very artistic manner of strokes on the mouse/pen is fantastic. not to mention the texture controll. it even outputs normal and displacement maps for you all perfectly UVW ..

i can assure you my Impy head has gone into Zbrush for some extra fine detail work that previously would have taken so long to produce by poly-modelling you would have to be insane to undertake it.

I thoughrly recommend asking me or some other P2P network for a erm demo........................................

Halo 2 was mentioned but doesnt push graphics in any shape or form like the boring Doom3 does or Half Life 2 can.

Yeah, I liked the article.

I once saw ZBrush in action, and I still want to try it out myself. Will have to test it soonish.

seriously go try it - whats also cool in version 2 (not sure about V.1) they have this 'demo' mode, where the computer takes controll of your mouse cursor and actually builds an example object in front of you, or textures somthing example, all with on screen tips. u can stop at any time and just take controll yourself. its great for seeing it actually in action.

Do get Zbrush2.

Only downside is that we are using huge poly counts I guess. but they can all be reveresed down to basic mesh level and re mesh smoothed inside your fav 3D app. and they all sub-divide correctly as it can reverse mesh thing.. you know what I mean. ;)
