Batman Begins

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

It's the only existing Batman film I really like—first one has too much devoted to setting the scene, everything after the second has been ****. I like the Batman concept, but find most of the villain roster disinteresting. The same goes for most 'hero' series.

Recurrent villains need a better explanation than perpetual escape from captivity.
Me as well, agreed, check, semi-agree, and yup.

Doesn't mention the fact that Harvey Dent went from Billy
Dee Williams in the first movie to Tommy Lee Jones in the third. ...oh wait.

Muchas gracias to Mob for the Sig, proving why he's called 'King'.

The "i" in "Señior" from "Señior's Covenant" is intentional and part of a stupid & cheesy inside joke from '02. Thank you for your concern.

Comics are like soap operas: in order to sell, they've got to keep info and story development at a bare minimum so you keep buying and so people who just jump in won't be lost. When you try and cram a comic mythology into a couple hours, you have to set up the story extremely quickly while at the same time still making it accessible for the casual viewer.

The only Batman movie is seriously dislike is Batman and Robin. Batman and Robin was so over the top it was campy.

Only if you're talking about **** comics. A good writer can provide development and snare new readers.

Unfortunately, Batman is a several-trick pony with fairly few villains who could realistically survive for long in the big bad world.

Ra's Al Ghul is definitely one of them, though...

I hope the series never touches that villian. I doubt any could do him justice.

Señior doesn't want Ra's Al Ghul to be in a Batman movie.

Ergo, Ra's Al Ghul will be in a Batman movie.

I should have read more into the movie a while ago. Gotten the disappointment over with.

Hmph.

some bat tech stuff!
That smokey pic of the Batmobile looks like it's about to take part in Robot Wars.
Isn't this Batman played by the guy who starred in Equillibrium? That was a good and vastly underrated movie.

Christian Bale - yes :)

When it comes to Batman comics, I've only read The Long Halloween, The Killing Joke and The Dark Knight Returns.
And from what I remember, Bruce Wayne doesnt figure very much in these comics.
So I ask you: What's Bruce Wayne actually like?

I like the Bruce Wayne in The Dark Knight Returns. You can really feel the insanity, the anger and the sorrow in him (and sometims it's like he's almost schizophrenic).
Alot of these emotions comes from Bruce Wayne not being Batman anymore - so some of it might not fit the Bruce Wayne that'll be in Batman Begins.
But I'd like to see some of the insanity from Dark Knight Returns, in Batman Begins.
And I love how evil Bruce/Bats looks like when he's smiling. He's really enjoying being Batman, and scaring the crap out of everybody.
It's the psychological side of the whole Bats/Bruce relationship that interests me.

The time has come.
You know it in your soul.
For I am your soul... You cannot escape me.

You are puny,
you are small...
You are nothing - a hollow shell, a rusty trap that cannot hold me.

Smoldering, I burn you... burning you, I flare, hot and bright and fierce and beautiful.
You cannot stop me, not with wine or vows or the weight of age.
You cannot stop me but still you try... still you run...
You try to drown me out...
But your voice is weak...

It's just... awesome

Anyways... what's Bruce actually like? He's a welthy buisnessman, which means that he must be able to act 'properly' amongst people.
But what's he like behind closed doors?

And how do you want Bruce Wayne/Batman to be like in the movie?

As I've already said, I'd like to see some bat**** crazy stuff go down.
Some psychological depth - and I have a feeling we'll see at least some of that.

Edit: I understand that Bats isn't always crazy, and I dont consider him to be a maniac or something.
But I do want the whole 'my parents got murdered' to be a large part of his Batman transformation - and I do want him to come off as a little crazy, as well as an intelligent human being with feelings.

"I'm Batman. And I can breathe in space."

Saw the trailer before ROTS. Not an impressive trailer. The Star Wars/Batman Begins mash-up trailer is better. However, I really like Bale so I'm still expecting a good performance from him at least.

Love the "Does it come in black?" line from that teaser. Way he delivers it is perfect.

I really love that Obfleur

I'm gald their doing a "year 1" type thing here. Not sure, from what I've read, i'm not so keene on so many people being involved in Batman's origins but it might work out.
