ok, quickly just skimmed read the Silmarillion and it mentions no-where about it keeping Morgoth at bay - It mentions that when it first rose the people of middle Earth took it as a sign and called it Gil-Estel, the star of hope....................Then the elves looked up and despaired no longer
I thik I read somewhere in one of the book of lost tales about it being used to keep morgoth at bay but that was back when morgothsfate was radically different.
as for Melkor I found this about the abys - He was thrust through the door of night beyond the walls of the world, into the timeless void; and a guard is set forever on those walls, and Earendil keeps watch upon the ramparts of the sky
off to go look at lost tales now

So I made a mistake, sue me...would you also care to point out that I used the wrong form of "you're" right before that error while you're at it? Christ...never good enough for some people.Auntie Slag wrote:Dictionary.com defines this as: 'One of Red's made up words'.Redstreak wrote:inobstinate
Or does inobstinate in fact mean 'really nice'?
