Who ya votin for?
I gotta go with Leinart. Reggie Bush is the best player in the country, but he doesnt get enough touches. I like Cedric Benson too.

I've got a nutty idea since the complaints about its tendency to go to RBs and QBs kept coming up this year...hold the other awards show earlier, as the votes are tabulated quite in advance of this, maybe push this ceremony back while you're at it, and have the nominees be the ppl who are voted the best at their position; like the guy who wins the Butkus award, the Doak Walker award, etc. So it then truly becomes representative of the best college player, since the guy gets picked from the best college players.
Not surprised to see Leinart win, either.

it also means that you have a 90% chance of sucking in the pro's, but they will pay you ungodly amounts for that 10% chance of you being amazing. Eli Manning anyone?
On the flip side, Ben Roethisberger (sp), wasnt he a LATE 1st rounder? Yeah hes a bit good.

Neither one of those guys won the trophy, though...and Carson Palmer is doing quite well. Although yes youre right he is in that 10%. Ron Dayne, anyone?Optimus Prime Rib wrote:it also means that you have a 90% chance of sucking in the pro's, but they will pay you ungodly amounts for that 10% chance of you being amazing. And LNeck, not to take anything away from Cy Young winners, but its not at elite as winning the Heisman.

Roethlisberger wasnt there, although he could have been. It was White, Manning, Chris Perry, and Larry Fitzgerald.Optimus Prime Rib wrote:good point, though they were all finalists, right? I cant remember if Roethlisberger was or not
To Leatherneck again, its definitely not the Cy Young.
To win the Cy Young, you can only play one position, not to mention pitchers have like 15 years to chase it. As for the Heisman, a player can play any position, he only has 4 shots at it, and there is a much, much greater competition. Also, there is only one given out per year.

lets be honest, you technically can play any position, but realistically you have to play QB or RB in order to have a real shot at winning. Larry Fitzgerald should have won by a long shot last year. I cant remember who the last defensive player was. Desmond Howard?
