STARWARS EPISODE III TRAILER!!!!

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

That looks ******* terrible.

I was waiting for a teletubby to pop up in that trailer because I was hoping it'd be a hoax.

Looked kinda cool. What's up with Vader's arms though? They look all stubby.

They wanted to make the character as close to the toy as possible, and for it to Transform, he needed stubby arms.

Looked good enough. :) So we finally get to see what that old scarecrow the emperor can do with a light-saber (unless I was misstaken I saw such a flash). Hopefully if it's done as it should, he'll be feckin tooled by Yoda's supreme skill. :D After all, that how it should be done.
I'm myself rather hot for the Anakin Skywalker Obi-wan Kenobi duo-fight with General Grievous, or will it be him against <the black Jedi-temporary memory loss>? Is that how he's gonna die? Time will tell, time will tell. Heh, I wonder how bad Obi-wan is gonna cut Anakin up for him to be that disfigured.

What I've heard (and just seen) about this movie looks rather promising.

But I believe I still speak for most nerds out there when I say...

Man, I hope this doesn't suck like the last two.

As far as Anakin getting all scarred up, I believe Futurama's Professor Farnsworth can explain the reasoning behind that best of all,

"Lava! Hot!"

(That was for you too Computron)
Buffy: Giles, There are two things that I don't believe in: coincidence and leprechauns.
Giles: Well, Buffy, it's entirely possible that they both arrived here by chance simultaneously.
Buffy: Okay, but I was right about the leprechauns, right?

i think it looks pretty damn good. They decided to go with wookies this time instead of jar jar people (or whatever they're called). Good move

Everybody go dress up like Star Trek characters when you go to see the show opening night :-p

Looks good enough to finish up the story any fan already knows more or less.

Saw it without the sound (my speakers are bust) but it looks pretty cool.

Probably because Christensen's in the suit, and not bodybuilder Prowse.

Which can be easily explained by Vader is still a young man here.

I have little hope for this film. I have more hope for it than the TF movie. That way, if it rocks, I'll be a happy man. :D

Maybe, maybe not. Ep 1 was poor but Ep 2, dispite some dodgy acting, was really good overall.

Agreed. Aside from the Darth Maul duel with Anakin and Obi-wan, there wasn't much to love in Episode I. But I really loved Attack of the Clones.

I really liked Count Dooku. Christopher Lee is an A+ actor, as Alec Guiness was in the original Star Wars, which adds credence to the pisspoor acting these two films have had. Damn shame they are going to kill him off early, IMO.

NO! We cannot give you another format because OBVIOUSLY destiny has not intended you to see it! You shall now live life with the empty unfillable void of never seeing, Star Wars: Episode III: REVENGE OF THE SITH!

Balls - half the movie was *****.

"i love you but i can't be with you"

"er...howabout if i tell you i just wiped out a village of sand people?"

"oh my god! that makes me so horny!"

The effects and the set pieces were good, thats it. Anything that involved actual character was weaker than a vegetarian.

Actually you missed the one that actually was in the film.

Padme: "If you follow events to their natural conclusion, it will lead us to a place we cannot go."

WHO THE [composite word including 'f*ck'] TALKS LIKE THIS?!?

Anyway, in the main I enjoyed AOTC. Good start, good ending, Ewan was much better, and Lee and Yoda saved the thing.
The middle section was horrible. Lucas cannot direct drama.

Oxford audiences are a cynical bunch, and when we saw it at the Odeon here the audience was guffawing all the way through the love scenes as if we were watching a comedy. Painful.

True. Good think most of the film was action then. The plot itself was strong. The "i love you bollox" was only on screen for some 20 minutes and Natalie Portman is still damn fine eye candy. Every film has a weakness.
I still enjoyed the whole movie and thus it's a overall good film.

yes but a) the chase at the start was boring and b) this trilogy is supposed to be all about vadars journey into the dark, the action sequences are fun by and large but the core of the movie should be what happens between Anakin and Padme, and its clear from the direction that it is supposed to be - sadly GL activly sucks ability from actors.

ah, well in that case...

Not as crap as the Phantom Menace does not a good film make. Its an average film that benefits from context and a spectaculr budget. IMHO.

I think Episode II had more of a feel for the original trilogy than the Phantom Menace.

Of course it's all subjective. Ep 2 is as good as Jedi in my opinion. Only 'Empire' was the 'classic' from the original IMO (Though ep 4 was great).

Regardless 'Lord of the Rings' is the best trilogy of it's kind nowadays. Lucas has not only succeed in making a lesser trilogy but removed the originals 'untouchable' status just in time for the near flawless LotR to take it's number 1 spot.

I've just realised something. Once I pointed out that Lucas keeps editing the originals to 'fit in' with the new and grant them 'classic status' by association. I've realised he is now using the originals (The Obi Wan speech) to sell this 3rd part. Of course this is the part we have been waiting for. However it's clear that Alec Guinness would have resented being used to sell the new films as they overtly emphasis what he hated about the originals.

the latest 2 films are just bollox - old 3 are far superior. almost ever line in the old films are better written.

Even worse if go back and watch Phantom menace the special effects are beging to look a bit ***** - not good for a film based around them.

i think the real problem with the new films is that there is no cynical voice (i.e Han) to keep things down to earth - everyone, be they Jedi or Sith is more or less entirely up their own arse.

It's true then. That all films are a reflection of their director :o

P.S: I don't buy the cynical voice being whats needed. Alfter all Han Solo was as posistive as the next guy in Jedi. Obi Wan in Phanton and Anakin in 'clones' were more cynical than "Smily Han" in Jedi. I believe a director who can actually direct actors is needed to work alongside Lucas. And someone to redo some of the dialouge so it's more natural sounding and less forced. Otherwsie the plot and the way it builds up is good.A mystry failed assination at an important time building up into universal war is done effectively. If the characters of Anakin and Padme had chemistry, realistic dialogue and less fluffy sceens the middle bits would run smoothly. I believe than the Phantom menance and 'Attack' have had pirate edits (The infamous 'phantom edit') in which mearly seconds of screen time are snached here and there which have improved the films to original trilogy level. Oh and kill Jar Jar on principal.

I think the name is another howling misnomer.

The Phantom Menace - was what, exactly? The Sith?Yet Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan know about them from the first time they see Maul on Tattooine. Hardly a phantom.
Attack of the Clones - yeah, the clones showed up. And they had a fight at the end, but they didn't actually attack anyone, did they? They were defending the Jedi from the battle droids. I suppose they did attack the droids, but it's still a wobbly title...
Revenge of the Sith - Again, revenge for what, exactly? So far the Sith have been the provocateurs - a couple of their agents, like Maul, have died, but it's not like the Sith have been treated badly so far...most people in the SW universe don't even know about them. If, in the last film the Sith had been completely dicked on by the Jedi, it would have made sense. As it is, well, I don't think the Sith can really get revenge.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

So as a big SW fan from birth, why do I watch the new films and feel nothing for them?

I can watch the old films, I think the old films even look better, they have some sort of grit to them, the characters just seem more fun, more interesting and alluring. the action sequences whilst not as big as recent films still have more character to them.

And finnaly the script just seems much better, how many lines do ppl quote from the old films and not the new ones? they seem etched in my memory for good reason, the new films is going on about meticholrines or somthing - [composite word including 'f*ck'] that.

Lucas get my money because I got to the cinema in vain hope that the each new film might be as good as the old 3... it hasnt even come close yet.

And Han-Solo is fantastic.
