Has anyone seen 'The Returner'?

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Have you seen 'The Returner'?

No, and I have no intention of seeing a film that was not originally made in English.

No, but the excitement engendered by the idea of seeing live-action transforming fun will have me running, not walking, to the nearest Blockbuster or other video-renting facility.

Yes, and I found it to be an unwatchable peice of incoherent time-travelling ridiculousness, as risible as it is pathetic. Except for the few moments you get to see planes transforming, that is.

Yes, and you know how you felt the first time you saw The Matrix? Terminator 2? ET? Well this is like all those feelings rolled together in peanut butter and honey and then forced down your gullet by a buxom woman in rubber.

Have any other transfans seen 'The Returner'?

This is a 2002 Japanese live-action film that features live action (well, CGI in a live-action environment) Transformers. Both a Harrier Jet and a Boeing 747 transform into huge robot/space-ship things, in a very good looking effects sequence. Has there been any other live-action examples of transformers in film? I'm not aware of any, so Transfans might want to check this film out (be warned, the plot is an incredibly hokey rip-off of Terminator, The Matrix, and, well, ET. The English over-dubbing is also unbelievable- see it when you're in the mood for cheesiness).

However I would hold the effects company behind this movie up as an example of how to do a good looking, live-action transformers film.

I saw a teaser trailer for it some time back that was posted on TransformersHomage. Looked cool enough visually, but haven't seen it anywhere to rent it, nor have I heard any dialogue from it.

You can get it in the Golder's Green Dambusters, I know that much- otherwise it's easy to order online.

As for the dialogue, it's hokey.

"Mmm, tastes good!" is the only line I really remember.

I love reviving old topics - I missed most of them first time around. Has someone dumped a load of topics from the boards? I remember there being more. I hadn't got through them all yet... :(

As for 'The Returner':
I edited the dumb humans out of the 'Jumbo-transforming' sequence and used the clip as my screensaver. There just weren't enough transformations in the movie - if you've seen the trailer, you've seen everything that would appeal to a TF fan.

I just hope the live-action TF movie has MUCH better robot stuff than the Returner. Like that car advert. Did anyone notice how they used the term 'Transforming' for a while in their blurb, but quickly dropped it? Hasbro lawyers methinks. About time - that really annoyed me,

This topic was started by a guy who used to temp in my office - he was a really nice bloke but the guy he worked for was/is a c*** and didn't like the fairly relaxed way this guy approached work (which no else minded a bit).

So nice guy Dan comes back from holiday and finds a new temp in his seat, and thats the last we see of him.

He didn't leave any contact details so i have no idea where he is now. Hope you are well Dan, wherever you are!

That manager is such a ****.
