What is the biggest sports rivalry in the US

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

I voted for Andy Roddick vs. Roger Federer.
Why? It's two people, and they are always the same people.
I obviously don't live in the USA, but in the pre-season or whatever you call it you can always read stuff like "Rangers traded 12 players", "Red Sox traded 675 players" etc.
Like there's no team spirit - no players that have been in the club since they were seven years old (I dont live in the US, I dont know what the hell is going on in the US, bla bla. I know. This is just what it looks like to me).
My point being; A player that has been in the club for 20 years or something can say "Oh yeah, the rivalry here is insane".
A guy that was traded just a month ago cant have the same feelings.
Can't believe I'm still here.

Back in 1960 - 1970. Players switching club every week, and stuff.
Or was the team spirit there, like "I refuse to play for any club, but New York. I dont care how much money you give me, I'll never leave New York".

Ohh, players tended to stay with one team. Not that trades never happened (Bambino) but it was not as common.

Just as a note, though. It will never matter who the players are on the yankees and sox, or how often they come and go. The fans will keep that one alive no doubt about it.

Depends on where you're writing from. The only sports rivalry that influences me here in SC is the Clemson/USC contest. I'm partial to college football anyway, even though I don't know half of what's going on. But anyway, Clemson/USC VERY big here, almost to the point of cutting out everything else.

That rivalry doesn't matter. There is no more NHL.

BLASPHEMER!!! It will return. Bigger and better than ever.

Detroit and Colorado are Western Rivals. Have the biggest and baddest brawls in Hockey, and once the NHL comes back, will have the best stars.

Because Hockey, like Baseball and Basketball, has no salary cap.

A player cap... not a team cap.You can pay every member of the team the same amount of money if you can afford it. Hence, the Los Angeles Losers of last year

I'm not going to bother to explain this since you hate hockey so vehemently. I'd love to know why, and if you say anything about watching it on TV, I'll load up some hockey fans and get in you in a burlap sack so we can beat you with reeds.

Yankees / Red Sox

Easily.

Yeah, Bears/Packers, Cubs/Cardinals, Lakers/Kings is quite feisty, but nothin' compares to the visceral hatred the Yankees and Sox share.

Biggest Rivalry now?

Vancouver Canucks and Colorado Avalanche

Next time these two teams play it will be a blood bath. Bertuzzi will be back and the entire Ava-loser team will go on the IR.
