Something to rile up the local Star Wars fans...

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Merely curious as to see which one wins out (Note: Vote Empire! It had Vader vs. Luke, Yoda the sage, and the big-screen debut of some minor bounty hunter.)

Say, do you hear hornets buzzing?

Empire.

It's the best film of all time (maybe).

It's the one starwars film I can watch over and over and over.

"NO!.....I...am your father"

= Best twist of all time.

jedi Bar last 1/2 hour) and the prequels suck. They all have good action but aweful acting and retarded 'characterisation'.

Or Transfans dressed as Ewoks, as the idea originally was. Was soon scrapped upon the first utterance of "oh [composite word including 'f*ck'] off Chewie you ginger rasclart".

Taken from the news section over at IMDb:

"Lucas To Make 'Star Wars' Sequels?

Star Wars creator George Lucas could be poised to make three sequels to the original space opera trilogy, according to insiders at Lucasfilm. According to fan site Theforce.Net, employees at Lucas's company Industrial Light And Magic (ILM) have all been made to sign non-disclosure agreements to promise not to talk about the possibility of episode's seven, eight and nine being made. Now industry insiders are predicting the American Graffiti director will make the follow-ups, which pick up where 1983's Return Of The Jedi left off, despite insisting he would never be lured into filming them. A posting on the site says, "You didn't hear this from me, but you might be curious as to why everyone at ILM just signed NDA's saying that they will not discuss Star Wars episodes 7, 8, or 9. Since they're not being made, why the NDA's? Of course, since when has Lucas been consistent?" "

It's on the internet, so therefore it's true.

Anyone ever heard of this? Whoever did the plot didn't appear to have read up on their source material, eh?

I thought Episodes 7, 8 & 9 were just an extrapolation of a misinterpretation of an interview where Lucas is talking about "taking the middle", referring to just Episode 4, but people've been mistaking it to mean 4, 5 & 6 ever since?

Empire is the most surprising, though Jedi REALLY has its moments. Both are phenominal films.

I like Phantom Menace the best. It has Jar Jar he is good.

Episode 3 is being script doctored by James McDonough. Apparantly Shockwave is now Luke's father.

Love the originals. Empire's my fave, great acting and imagination. New Hope looks a bit rickety now, and I'm a bit bored of it, but still wonderful stuff. Jedi gets a lot of stick, but it has a fantastic sabre duel/battle of wits at the end.

The Prequels... its a bit like comparing Marvel to Dreamwave.

And Jake Lloyd as the young Anakin.

There weren't nearly enough scenes with those two-it was all crappy light-sabers, robots and space battles.

I'm hoping that George Lucas will see the error of his ways and correct this for the Special Editions-being an avid Star Wars fan who got to read the original treatment of 'The Phantom Menace', I was incredibly upset that they didn't include the touching 48 minutes of film that showed the relationship between these two. Anakin's journey towards the Dark Side is much more believable/compelling when we are allowed to discover that he couldn't handle Jar Jar beating him at Connect Four, and this caused the hate to fester within him.

The proposed Special Editions will be a celebration of joy for us real Star Wars fans, as we get to see George Lucas' original, genius story.

Some key changes wil be:

1. Greedo not only shoots first, he shoots a group of school-children and THEN shoots at Han. This is important to show that Han is a good guy who would not do anything underhand.

2. Any scene including Tusken Raiders will now feature a burning mattress and an old Land Speeder jacked up on bricks in their camp. Jawas will also be heard offering to tarmac Uncle Owen's drive.

3. Obi-Wan will appear as normal until a new scene where he falls down a hole in the Jundland Wastes, and emerges wearing all-white robes and carrying a 'Jedi-Staff'.

4. All battles will be re-shot using an astonishing new technique called 'Laser-time photography'.

5. Luke can fly.

6. The Battle of Yavin will now have an X-Wing squadron piloted by Gungans. This will show how Luke's Death Star destroying shot was off, but was actually deflected on-course by those accident prone yet loveable aliens.

7. George Lucas will appear as Jabba the Hutt.

8. The "We don't want their kind in here" dialogue spoken about the droids by the barman in the Mos Eisley Cantina will now be replaced with "Please come in-as you can see we are a happy, prejudice free community who welcome all for drinks and light conversation."

Just some of the changes being made to 'A New Hope'. Can't wait.

Hey! Don't diss Gungans! They were freaking awesome whenever they wer'nt Jar-Jar. Captain Tarpals was the coolest new charecter in Episode 1!

Anyway, coincidences being what they are, I actualy just rewatched TPM the other day, for the first time in, I dunno, ages.

It wasn't all that bad. Certanly not the best of the series, but not nearly as bad as I remembered it being.

But....where are the Ewoks?

And Master Fwiffo, you seem to be confused about a few things.

Hope that clears things up. ;)

Bobaprime. I can't believe you rate Besty over Comps. At least Comps has the decny to get wreaked, crash out in a alley and disappear over the summer months. When has Besty ever done anything positive?
