Lost Light #18

Um...

Look. I get that there are still 7 issues left. I get that things that happened in this issue will almost certainly pay off before the series is over. I get all of that. I do.

But, taken as it is. As not only the last issue of the story arc, but seemingly as the payoff (even if it does turn out to be a fake-out) to the entire MTMTE/LL storyline... I'm not thrilled.

The more I think about it, the more I suspect that this issue was the result (victim?) of some pretty major rewrites. If I had to guess, it'd be that this issue probably had some changes made in order to get everything lined up for the upcoming series finale.

I suspect that his timeline changed a bit, because the "hey, it's Mederi!" thing was a little bit ungraceful.

But I think Roberts has always been taking us here, and I love the idea that the Knights of Cybertron were euthanized. It's a really distinct callback to the Primus annual where Swerve got religion, and where the "death" of the Metrotitan and the Duobot were both left ambiguous. Swerve chose to believe that he had witnessed an act of God. Rodimus chose to believe that he had seen a mercy killing.

Right now we have the "mercy killing" framework but I wouldn't be surprised if Roberts stretches it two ways and provides an alternate point of view for what Cyberutopia is, because that's how the man rolls.

Also, hey! I posted to Transfans! Now I have to go Tweet at you to get a response

Or do one big poo in the morning and another one in the afternoon. I bet they weren't even excited by and then subsequently disappointed by Star Wars Prequels. Or have a glass full of spare change near their beds. That they don't have.

The thing with the teleporting metrotitan and the nanobots in Ultra Magnus's mouth.
