Terminator: Sarah Connor Premiere Date! :)

If the Ivory Tower is the brain of the board, and the Transformers discussion is its heart, then General Discussions is the waste disposal pipe. Or kidney. Or something suitably pulpy and soft, like 4 week old bananas.

Terminator: Sarah Connor Premiere Date! :)

Post by Predabot » Thu Nov 15, 2007 10:35 pm

Aye. On January 14th shall come... Vindication Day. :afro:

The Sarah Connor Chronicles Start Date - ComingSoon.net

"The Sarah Connor Chronicles" creator Josh Friedman has confirmed to The Futon Critic that the series will premiere on Monday, January 14 at 8/7c on Fox.

The offshoot from the "Terminator" franchise will be bookended by the three-hour seventh season launch of "24" - Sunday, January 13 at 8/7c & 9/8c and Monday, January 14 at 9/8c.

"The Sarah Connor Chronicles" takes place after the events depicted in Terminator 2: Judgment Day and follows Sarah Connor (Lena Headey, 300), a modern warrior and loving single mom to 15-year-old son John (Thomas Dekker, "Heroes").

Summer Glau (Serenity, "Firefly") and Richard T. Jones co-star.

The folks at Fox were also nifty enough to release a good few promo-shots. :)

I watched the pilot and it was really enjoyable. I have high hopes for the series and hopefully it will undo the damage caused by T3!

In my eyes, that's precisely what it's already done. :)

I've seen up to episode #6 and it's pretty much all gravy. One of the best action-shows, or shows PERIOD, out there right now.

I watched this, it's kinda fun, in a T3-never-happened kinda way.

Could be really, really good if left to develop the right way...
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

With regards to repairing the damage T3 did to the franchise, I guess the time traveling moment kinda cancelled out the events in T3 no?

Is it set in the present day? Has Judgment Day merely been delayed again?

With T4 on the way, that'll be two continuities then.

Yeah, whatever interest I had in this show just vaporized if you're telling me they retconned T3 out of existence.

I wonder what they did. Cured Sarah of her terminal cancer?

Well they Time travel to present day from not long after the end of T2. So John is still a teenager and Sarah is still alive in the time of T3. Doubt this stops Sarah dying from cancer but the time line has changed in every other aspect.

Personaly I think it'll work as T3 wasn't a great movie, this route to bypass it is perfectly plausible in this franchise.

**Spoiler end**

Personally my only concern is a movie with these actors, they're fine for a TV series, Maybe the woman playing Sarah could pull off the role in a movie, not sure the guy playing John has "it" though.

Hasn't Christian Bale already been confirmed to play John in T4 tho?

The Connors have time travel tech?

I'm confused, even from the point of view of someone who can wrap their head around the fact that John was older than he should've been in T2.

I think I'll let this simmer for a while before I try and sample it. Maybe in a couple of years, when I've aged a decade, it'll be less nonsensical.

SPOILERY SPOILER SPOILER

John's attacked a couple of years after T2. The resistance sends back a cute chick terminator to protect Sarah and John. She takes them to a bank vault, where there is a time displacement machine that the resistance have built by sending someone really far back in time with the knowledge how to scrounge the parts and build it. They then jump forwards to the present day, and arrive naked in the middle of the road.
I would have waited a ******* eternity for this!!!!

watched the first two episodes of this last night. I think its embarrisngly bad.

Its so cliched, with lines from the first two movies popping up, about emotions, and crying etc...
The script just seems, well, crap to be frank, the plot lines, daft. for example, episode 2, and sarah is tracking down a chess software coder, who might go onto to create the Dyson company... it was hardley thrilling stuff.

Then we have the terminator girl, Johns bodygaurd. I know she was in firefly etc... but she just doest deliver. corney lines like:

John jumps into a car, and declares "shotgun!" - the terminator shouts "9mm"

I swear, she doesnt even know what a 9mm is, it sounds awfull.

The direction is as good as, well, an episode of nieghbours, it lacks class, and feels very amtuer'ish in comparison to other scifi, for example, BSG.

the special effects are good in places, episode 1 looked greeat, but by EP2, they are pulling cheap tricks, for example, the terminator BG fires an Uzi.
What you see is her aiming, then a cut to her face, and the sound of an Uzi. seems they cant afford blanks...

Then we get terminator girl v's a standard T-100. Daft. she ****s up a t-100 with an Iron bar, seemingly knocking him out at one point. Terminators dont get kncoked out, they get damaged.

She then beats on him for a bit, and hes crawling, she finaly strangles him with a lead pipe. it looks daft, because hes clearly not damaged, and terminators dont breathe.

By the end of the fight, the gravitas of a terminator seems completely lost. if this is the same model as Arnie, im pretty sure he would fight harder.

not to mention it doesnt matter if terminator girl is a new model, shes simply lighter than the t-100, how ccan she possibly sit on his back and hold him down? a T100 could probably lift a tank.

All just felt very lame, incredibly cheap, and badly produced. yuk...

I like it and I agree some parts u mentioned are lame.

The thing with beating a T-100 about the head with a pipe was fine imo though, the knocks would judder and interupt the T-100's processor. The wrapping a steel bar around the T-100's head and sitting on it's back part however, I have to agree was pretty bad.

I thought the "9mm" part was cute.

How I figure it is - no matter how hard she hits the T-100, its not as hard as a bullet.

Plus, we have seen arnie smashed through walls and stuff with alot more force, didnt seem to do him much harm.

grumpy old me!
