Re: Lost Light #25 (in 25 issue limited series)

The first year of Lost Light wasn't up to the standards of MTMTE. I thought year two really found that sweet spot again. Yeah, the concluding arc pulled it back. And agree with other comments that MTMTE/LL has been a high water mark for TF fiction -- not always consistent in execution but trying ne...

Re: Reissues?

Would be more interested if they stopped pitching them as toys and released unmodified versions, but that's almost certainly not economically viable -- plus in most cases bootleggers (apparently with access to original moulds) have beaten them to it.

Re: Just saw the preview to the Bumblebee movie......YES!!

Not exactly rushing to see it (hate the "radio as voice" thing) but that studio series Prime that's been leaked looks pretty decent, and the film seems to have reviewed well, so will catch it at some point.

Re: Requiem of the Wreckers

Thought it was the ending that Sins needed, personally. Fanfic with a budget -- which isn't a diss, the up-side of IDW seeming to exercise very little editorial control is that it's allowed some experimental stuff to come to the fore that it's hard to imagine happening on any other publisher's watch...

Server move coming up / forum upgrade

It's a bit more than a server move this time -- PHP 5.6 is going out of support shortly, so the forum has to jump a few versions too. (21/12/2018: The forum part's now done and things seem to be working okay). The forum may want re-skinning afterwards, but phpBB works on mobile devices pretty well t...

Some things are shared, but the sites are on different accounts. We had a problem with a setting not sticking and the account TFA is on getting bandwidth limited.

Should all be fine now.

Re: Transfans.co.uk server move

Great stuff, this is really growing on me and is a huge step up from prosilver. Only a couple of things I'd probably change -- the top breadcrumbs being right-aligned (stretching the bar a bit more so that it starts under the "User Control Panel" link and they were left-aligned would look swish) and...

Doing it this way we get more figures released that cater to older fans, so it's hard to complain. Still lots of gaps in our reviews section. http://tfu.info/ is quite good but the indexes aren't pictorial. Hasbro just puts out some homage figures in whichever line is handy as they know it's a bit of a boost to sales. There's no real logic, although there's currently a lot of figures tying into the Fall of Cybertron game so the alt-modes tend to be things suitable for it.

Save and snag lots when they come up? Unicron Trilogy stuff isn't really high-demand, it just might not be listed regularly or in particularly good condition.

As a franchise, there's no shortage of tat but I can generally rely on something of interest in the comics and a few figures a year. The license-holder's pretty amenable. Not many complaints, just more other priorities. I can see why people get annoyed over book or comic series that hold promise (an...

anyone's comic career that is still ticking along after 25 or so years (after the boom and bust of the 90s, which accounted for many of those cancellations you cite as some kind of proof of mediocrity) deserves nothing but praise By that logic, folk such as Rob Liefield and Pat Lee should be accord...

Ye gods, have really got to get caught up on forums and email this weekend. I wonder how many other people got it a few days early? The quality of teaching and marking is insanely variable, by all accounts. You can't begin to generalise. Get rid of everything after Revelation, including LSOTW keep LSOTW, but be stuck with all the other guff as well? London --> Birmingham's about an hour and a half, and it's usually worth booking trains that involve London in advance price-wise. If coach is acceptable, National Express or Megabus are also options.
