Re: MTMTE #34 (Spoilers)

For what it's worth, when I showed him and Nick my Ironfist (not a euphemism) at AA they weren't upset at Third Party versions of their characters, they were hugely excited that these things are happening because of their work and were only jealous that they didn't have their (free gift apparently) ...

Re: Anybody doing London Film & Comic Con this weekend?

A Samsung Galaxy 5. No external mic. My next Action Force: The Movie video will likely be back to the tablet as the wifi on my phone is playing up for some inexplicable reason meaning I can't synch it up with the TV and see what I'm doing (the inward facing camera isn't as good so it makes no differ...

Re: Anybody doing London Film & Comic Con this weekend?

The main website has finally been updated to include some of the Transformers guests, still not everyone we should expect but it has Uncle Bob, Jose Delbo, technically Larry Hama (though when I go up to him with my copy of The Vault for him to sign I'm expecting dirty looks) and- the I don't think h...

Re: Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Spoilers)

Interesting how much more positive than usual the fan reaction to this one has been (though as far as critics go it's business as usual), everyone seems down on the length (rightly), but overall there's a lot of "But other than that it was quite good" style comments than have become normal for these...

Re: Anybody doing London Film & Comic Con this weekend?

I'm definitely up for the October one (indeed, by coincidence I very nearly went to the one this weekend), I'm not sure if I've been to an event run by these people before (and it's been a few years since I've done anything similar so everything may have changed), but these Memorabellia/Collectorman...

Re: Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Spoilers)

Be fair, the end of the first film explained where new Autobots come from with Prime's message inviting any who pick it up to come to Earth (presumably they don't all pick it up at the same time and have different distances to travel, hence some new ones still showing up seven years later). The disa...

Re: Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Spoilers)

Yeah, it's not going to change the minds of anyone who didn't enjoy the first three, but overall I enjoyed it a lot, daft as a brush and definitely half and hour too long, but still good fun. Depending on how it stands up to a second viewing on Blu Ray it's probably on the same level of DotM and jus...

- Humans, after having genocide committed upon them by identifiable Decepticons, make any kind of deal at all with Decepticons. This is probably one of my bug bears because there's actually a neat idea in there, and after all there's no shortage of examples in human history of two nations that have...

Re: RID 30

I'm not minding this overall, there are some really stupid moments (Prowlestator, natch) but as a bit of a silly romp it's OK. However, I can more than see why so many (at least here and on the other forums I frequent) seem to have given up on it. It's entirely average and certainly not up to the st...

Re: RiD #29

Easily the weakest of the three issues this month (and considering MTMTE was an average issue by its own standards and Windblade was just generally OK that might not be a good sign), but still a nice fast fun read, and Prowl's solution at the end was actually pretty smart. Well, that is to say that ...

Windblade #2

Thought it remained a generally solid read, though I'm still hoping for a twist where Starscream isn't behind what's going on (why trust Waspinator anyway?). I do think the political side of things is being handled much better than when it was RID's preserve, and it feels nice and pacey as well whic...

Re: Aaaaand...we're back! MTMTE #28

As yaya specifically says boards plural, I should say I do know one poster at the Archive who really, really doesn't like MTMTE at all. It's a position so distant from my own his posts on the subject often read like a foreign language to me (though more power to him for enjoying RID that much more)....

Re: Aaaaand...we're back! MTMTE #28

You know, one thing I was thinking yesterday. Both Windblade and RID (beyond my Schrödinger's cat issue with the cliffhanger to the later- I won't be sure if it works or not till issue 29 comes out) were very enjoyable reads for me. But this issue of MTMTE- despite being fairly average by the standa...

Re: Windblade 1

I don't know, considering the potential pitalls of such a character (I mean, she's fan created...) I think she just about avoided being a Mary Sue, mainly because the cliché of such a character would be for her to be the only person who could see Starscream who who he really was and rather than slig...

Re: RID Dawn of the Autobots #28 (Spoilers)

I felt that for most of its length this was a great read, fun and frothy and like a breath of fresh air from Barber. Sure, the send up of the writing industry is the sort of thing only writers think is interesting, but it had a nice tongue in cheek feel to it. The only thing I'd complain about there...

SPOILERS HO! So, after all the fuss? Was Windblade any good then? It was OK. It's was nice the female issue was dealt with in the way it always should have been (basically boiling down to "And why not?", mind, if other characters are going to keep asking about it, it'll get old real quick), the art ...

Re: So what exactly is the Marvel TF universe now?

I believe the TMUK explanation (as part of the story so far PDF that came with Eugenesis, I think Death's Head at least is more familiar with the actual fiction than me and is therefore more qualified to say how well it worked) did introduce species wide amnesia to explain how Edge of Extinction and...

Re: So what exactly is the Marvel TF universe now?

Never had trouble with Unicron showing up earlier myself as the Aspects of Evil story where Rodimus returned to the future was fairly emphatic that history had been drastically altered and the future history we'd seen now no longer happened. But I do know a lot of fans like to ignore his exact words...

Re: So what exactly is the Marvel TF universe now?

Yeah, it best to view End of the Road as the "Proper" end of the original series, and to put all the mutually exclusive continuations in their own little bubbles. Though I suppose if any were to have precedence based on anything other than the highly subjective notion of quality it would be Generati...

Oh Dark Cybertron Chapter 11, you didn't have to get me a late valentines day present in order to make me love you again, but killing that little git Bumblebee was nearly as good as a blow job. Overall, probably the best issue by far to date. Stuff happened! Not always completely logical stuff, but I guess having watched the '86 film so recently I'm slightly numbed to nonsensical McGuffin's at the moment. Just look at the difference from the last part, which had lots of characters standing...

Agreed on the pay off to the Thunderclash issue being nice, I think that retroactively helps with one of my problems there that the whole issue felt like a last second replacement for the intended issue 22 which wound up being forced into that text story even though it wrapped up some pretty big loo...

In other words, Regen is going to literally regenerate the universe and out comes IDW incarnation. Considering the series as a whole has seen Furman recycling lots of old ideas and that the "Crisis on Infinite Cybertrons leading to a reboot" idea was apparently the very first thing he pitched to ID...

I think after a truly terrible start DC has improved a lot as it's gone along (though a lot of, probably sensible, readers seem to have given up and battened down the hatches whilst waiting for the regular comics to start up again, feedback on even the MTMTE side of things seems to have really falle...

The 30th Anniversary Collection.

Bumblemus asked me to share my thoughts on this IDW book from over at the Archive, and as he has scary mind powers I comply: Yeah, picked this up whilst on holiday in distant and exotic London, and as a fluff tabletop book it's actually quite nice, with (mostly, we'll come to that) a decent cross-se...
