There have been some great Sentai designs over the years. Bioman is still a favorite of mine. More recently, I dig the DX Rescue Megazord and Astro Megazord. Even the recent SPD Combiner (merge team plus motorbike) was pretty sweet. In addition, I dig the Takara Brave and Popy Chogokin bots. Great s...

Review: Transformers Classic Jetfire

I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I got this guy today and was simply blown away. I just had to post a review: Review: Transformers Classic Jetfire Though the name has been used countless times throughout the Transformers franchise, this is the first time that a new Jetfire truly pays ...

The G2 colored one, while quite an eye-sore, is also a piece of %&!@. Very cheap plastic and careless construction. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Incidentally, Hey Aaron! How ya been?

The full over-sized Bruticus Did I dream this several years ago, or has there been mention that this (and oversize versions of the other Special Teams) can actually combine with Metroplex? Something about the original molds were larger than the ones used in mass production at the time, so these ove...

That huge Onslaught is cool. I too would like to see him combined with the rest as enormous Bruticus. I'm not crazy about any of the primes' color schemes. They all look like they're made out of cotton candy. And I like real PM Prime's fun trailer better than that boring flatbed. The Menasor would ...

G1 Cassette Knock Off mini-review

These guys have been flooding ebay lately and are being sold out of China. At $40 (including shipping) for all four, I decided to give them a try. It's been a very long time since I had the originals (1985), so it's difficult to make a completely accurate comparison, but these guys are as good as a ...

Thanks for the pics! It's an awesome feature. If those had been higher quality bootlegs, I would have been on an international quest to locate some for myself in less time than it took me to write this sentence . Judging from the cards, I think I know the company that makes those. They'll probably b...

They're pretty much used interchangably. Originally, "bootleg" specifically implied that the toy sort of looked like a specific Transformer but was actually made from scratch by some other company, and "knock-off" meant that the toy was produced from a second generation mould illegally made directly...

I myself have quite a Bootleg collection... just today I bought 2 toys from a 'Police' -combiner where there are six members, the central piece is remolded from Onslaught, there is a white police copter Vortex, and most curious of all, the other 4 are all based on Streetwise, but are upgraded - the...

Rereading those Iraq threads was fascinating, but I know there were several more prior to the "official" Iraq thread. If I remember correctly, most of the interesting debates happened in those. Love to see them again.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane, BF

If I remember correctly we never get to see Palpy in Episode IV. Why? ...because he probably hadn't thought of him yet. As much as Lucus lies and says otherwise now, he made up most of the series by the seat of his pants. Luke was originally supposed to be an older Obi-Wan type general, which means...

It's a three-fold downfall, really 1. The prequals didn't live up to the quality of the first trilogy in many people's opinions. Star Wars ends leaving a bad taste in the mouth of popular culture. It's bound to affect how we view the rest of the series. 2. So much of the allure of Star Wars was its ...

Seems like a waste. You can still get RID Scourge for $30 on ebay, and the original Laser Rod isn't that much more expensive, unless you want it MIB. Why aren't they doing some of the bigger, harder to find Japanese exclusives first? Where's Starsaber and Victory Leo?

It reminds me a bit of this other line of toys called air raiders. Also a little like starcom. Do you think they remolded diaclone for those other two toy lines You know, I've actually spent a great deal of time thinking about that.
