Re: The Mother****in Doctor Is In

The actual premise of Into the Dalek didn't engage me all that much (the whole Fantastic Voyage thing), but Capaldi was electric. He just seems to inhabit the Doctor, he doesn't seem to have to reach for the role at all. And he was so badass in that first scene with Journey Blue (great name by the w...

Re: The Mother****in Doctor Is In

I have high, high hopes for the new series after that. Some of those scenes were unlike anything I've ever seen in Doctor Who before. The sequence with Capaldi and the tramp? Amazing. Poor dino. It didn't have the big triumphant ending of The Christmas Invasion and The Eleventh Hour but I think that...

Re: The Guardians of the Galaxy. What a bunch of a-holes.

Great fun. Certainly top tier as far as Marvel movies go. It was also awesome that the bad guys didn't realise they were being sent up in a comedy sci-fi. (Glad to see that it looks like one of them will be back too). Most blatant McGuffin in a movie for yonks? The wtf reaction amongst the vast majo...

How did Marvel's G1 end for you?

The story that began in the 1984-1991 comic... how did its continuity ultimately - and personally - conclude for you?
In Marvel's G2 or IDW's ReGen?
Is there a consensus?

Re: Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Spoilers)

Interesting how much more positive than usual the fan reaction to this one has been (though as far as critics go it's business as usual), everyone seems down on the length (rightly), but overall there's a lot of "But other than that it was quite good" style comments than have become normal for thes...

Re: Transformers 4: Age of Extinction (Spoilers)

It’s just so long. So, so long. You could take half an hour out of the middle of the film and it wouldn’t have affected the plot and the film would be better! Do we need a 30 minute set piece on Lockdown’s ship? One of the best things about TFs is the contrast between the alien and the everyday, so ...

Re: MTMTE #22 (Spoilers)

You're doing a good job of putting me off it, but aren't parts of DC written by James Roberts?

I don't read RID, and its a shame I'm missing stuff. I'm hoping like its like Amazing/Spectacular Spidey back in the day, where you don't miss out on too much by sticking with the 'main' title.

A question guys.

I've been following this on the trades. My question is, where do I go next? I assume the MTMTE comic is still going? How does it tie in with Dark Cybertron - do I need to read that?

Blessing you in advance. x

I have to admit to being distracted by the wig for most of it. Mainly I have the similar feeling I had after watching The End of Time. An entertaining spectacle, yes, but I didn't totally connect with it. It might be because I'm dense but I had to really concentrate to understand the dynamics and mo...

Re: Bumblemus watches Doctor Who now. Doctor Who is cool.

Considering all the things this episode had to do it was downright wonderful. There was one point in the cinema, during the Dalek attack on Arcadia, that I turned to my friend and said "This is better than Star Wars." I stand by that. Certainly better than anything SW has done since '83. And what To...

Re: Bumblemus watches Doctor Who now. Doctor Who is cool.

*SPOILERS FOR NIGHT OF THE DOCTOR* Unfortunately the BBC iPlayer picture was of McGann, which kind of spoilt the surprise for me. Even so, when I saw said picture I made such a weird sound that my girlfriend thought Lou Reed had died again or something. Moffat has made fans' Christmases all come at ...

This hasn't been rocking my world so far. It looks a million dollars (let's face it, it probably is), some of the characters have potential, and it has some exceptional set pieces (those cars flying through the air in episode 3!) but the episodes as a whole aren't that exciting. Just how much is Whe...

Nine discovered episodes is AMAZING. That's more Doctor Who episodes than have been shown so far in 2013 I might add.

I'm thinking of waiting for the DVDs but do let is know what they are like ID. I'm hoping Enemy will be very awesome, despite the fact that I've not heard it described as that ever.

Done!

I really liked Dredd, a film absolutely true to the spirit of the comics and the character.

At the same time it had the feeling of the first X-Men film, in as much as it was just a tip of the toe into an amazing universe, and that the best was still to come.

I'm confused as to how that translates into "it's not possible". I’m not stating that it's not possible, I’m asking whether it is. :) And, thinking about it, Legacy of Unicron would make an awesome movie. For fans of the original movie, or of the comics, maybe. I would actively call the directing b...

Why should it be possible for the films i mentioned but not for TF? If it can be done I've yet to hear of the pitch that could do it. In all the TF media I've ever consumed I've yet to see a story that could translate into an all time classic film starring Transformers. i think my ability to critca...

It's far more imaginative. Giant planet-eating planet that turns into planet-eating robot! Judges at a twisted court with five rotating faces! Hot Rod fighting a mecha-octopus! Junk robots that turn into motorcycles, ride each other around, and speak in clips from prime time! Absolutely. 10 utterly...
